These mini pieces all came about after coming across a piece of rectangular shaped wood inside a cigar box. I have had ATC size wooden chunkies on my mind for a swap over at the PW Forum. I should have a couple of those to show you soon.
Back to the cigar blocks; my sweetie cut the piece into three sections, so that each measure approximately 1.75 x 1.50 inches and .75 inches thick (4.44 cm x 3.81 cm, 1.90 cm thick) that’s “Chester” on the right.
The center pointy house is cut from the top of a survey stake, you can imagine my delight when my husband surprised me with that! It measures 1.5 x 2.75 inches (3.81 cm x 6.98 cm). The butterfly girl on the left is a piece of the stake turned the other way. The little Paper Whimsy faces fit perfectly. The door on the back of the mini stake house is also from PW. I added the wings.
A little fiddle factor involved, because of their size, but so much fun! I sanded and gessoed them first. One of my gessos is kind of runny and it worked well for this purpose. I sanded again lightly and added inks and some stamping, along with some peeled napkin pieces and various bits of paper……..my mini village is beginning to take shape
the backdrop is a weathered birdhouse that no one has ever lived in

These are so neat! I didn’t realize they were so small until I saw the quarter there for scale! A wonderful village it will be – definitely! You may even have a magical fairy living in that birdhouse soon

as I think I always say, you’re a very lucky lady to have a husband so thoughtful (and willing to help with your craftiness
your chunkies are so beautiful, and I love the background you use for your pictures. I wish I had a space like this for mine! (but I don’t, so I settle for white).
which reminds me I asked Claudio to make me a small lightbox… in january, LOL!

You really are amazing and can make something from just about anything. JJJ must have great fun fueling your creativity with bits and pieces along his way. I can’t wait to see what is next!

I love these SO much!! (You might have guessed). My husband has been cutting me lots of house shapes recently – following an email conversation with Jean (did you see the one she did for our challenge?) You totally inspire me Patty….thank you.

Oh Patty, how adorable your DH is! I am loving your continued journey into wooden heaven – the chunkies are marvellous – eye-candy of the first order. They sing to my little Gipsy Soul and brighten the bells on my tambourine… =)

Hi There ~*~Patty! Trying to catch up a bit while at Mom’s….but her computer is sooooooo slow! I love these little chunkies and of course the house shape rocks. The whole look of them all is fantastic…from colors/media used, size all the way to the background you used in the photo. Very fun. Will catch up more once home!
