Hermine’s challenge at Wednesday Stamper this week is “spoons”. My first thought was altered cutlery, but I ended up making a greeting card instead, funny how that happens sometimes.
This is the stamp by Marks of Distinction (not sure if they are in business anymore?) that got me going
I stamped the image twice, once onto painted cardstock (Adirondack Cloudy Blue Acrylic Paint), and again on white paper, cutting and adding….the face on top and the new name Isolde underneath
Isolde means “Beautiful” in Welsh
The Love spoon is from a wood carving pattern I found on the internet
Welsh Love Spoons are a wonderful style of wood carving that began in the mid 1600’s as a courtship gift. Young men would carve a spoon as a present for their intended bride, including symbolic meanings in their designs.
I also added a clipart image of the claddagh symbol

This really surprised me, I thought sure I would see a piece of cutlery = an altered spoon.

This is beautiful – you have really captured the Celtic style of traditional Wales. Gorgeous colour as well.
I have a Welsh spoon that I bought some years ago on a trip to Wales. All the spoons have different individual designs and a lot of people collect them now.
