Bluebird Laugh

The Gothic Arches challenge this week is “For the Birds”.

Birds are very popular just now and I really enjoy creating with them!

After I finished making my arch, I showed it to my husband and asked him what he thought of when he saw it.

I had not yet put words to it, but did think it needed some.

He helped me come up with “Bluebird Laugh” inspired by the Buffalo Springfield song “Bluebird“, one of his many favorites (click if you’d like to hear it).

Here are the Lyrics:

Listen to my bluebird laugh.
She can’t tell you why.
Deep within her heart, you see,
She knows only crying.
Just crying.
There she sits, a lofty perch.
Strangest color blue.
Flying is forgotten now.
Thinks only of you.
Just you.
So, get all those blues,
Must be a thousand hues.
And be just differently used.
You just know.
You sit there mesmerized
By the depth of those eyes
That you can’t categorize.
She got soul.
She got soul.
She got soul.
She got soul!
Do you think she knows you?
Do you think at all?
Soon she’s going to fly away.
Sadness is her own.
Reverse of a death of tears
And go home, and go home.

And the song…classic (did you know I’m musically trapped in the late 60’s – mid 70’s?).

  12. Well, those song lyrics just had me rather choked up. I loved the title of the piece as soon as I saw it and the art piece itself is gorgeous and full of detail. The lyrics just clinched it for me….your love of words and poetry is so infectious. A woman after my own heart.
