on a recent visit to the beautiful and awe inspiring National Cathedral in Washington DC
we spotted a vine outside the Herb Cottage Gift Shop,
across from the Bishop’s Garden
even in the steady rain it begged for a closer look
we had to juggle the umbrella to keep the camera lens from getting wet
getting close was a great idea because not only is this Snail Vine (Vigna Caracalla) gorgeous to look at … but it is oh SO very fragrant as well … another name for it is Corkscrew Vine

This is a great entry. The arch to the Bishop’s Garden is fantastic. It makes me want to step right thru the arch for a look about. Love the photos of the corkscrew vine too, how very interesting. The raindrops add a lot to the close ups.

The arched doorway leading to the Bishop’s Garden…I sat and stared at the photo…all the different stone used in the creation of the walls, the arch, the pavered path, …
You can bet that my next visit to DC will include this historic building!
