those of you that have snow beginning in November and are on your 8th event … you may laugh at us here in the Washington, DC area …we actually have to laugh at ourselves
snow began falling at 9pm last night … just the beginning
news reports are calling our weather event “historical” … “monumental” … “the storm of the winter” measuring in feet rather than inches
possibly the largest recorded snowfall for December in this area…definitely a shopping and travel stopper for the end of 2009
it IS a lot of lovely white stuff already… falling at the rate of one to two inches per hour today … a perfect day to put on some music… a pot of soup and do some baking and of course some art too
I Love snow and felt like a little kid getting up way earlier than usual to peek outside this morning
Ho Ho Ho … now they are calling it a Blizzard Blizzard
“One kind word can warm three winter months” ~Japanese Proverb
I love, love, love, you back!
your snow photos are wonderful, but it is just a dusting compared to what we get!!! still it is so pretty and the stairs with the flower pots looks so charming doesn’t it? but I really loved the shot of them you took this summer too! thanks for the plug! xoxoxx

Don’t you just love how the weathermen/women wring their hands in the winter when snow is coming??!!
It is winter; we know how to drive in this stuff once the plows make a pass down the road.
Yes, feet instead of inches is wonderfully incredible!
Happy Holidays

Wow- That IS pretty! The photos take me back to when I was a young girl living in Indianapolis in the winters.
Of course, now that I live in Southern California, the only snow I see that even CLOSELY resembles that is on the mountains when I’m driving to work or when I actually go up to Big Bear in the winter.
I soooo enjoy seeing these photos you have posted Patty. Thank you for sharing!! hugs & kisses from what seems the other side of the world *smiles*

When everyone is inside all snug, safe and warm , I LOVE snow! We’re about to get 16″ of the stuff too, and I’m sort of looking forward to it. I love watching falling snow. I love seeing a fresh white blanket covering the ground. I adore your pictures, Patty. You’ve captured the feeling beautifully! And, BTW, your quote is one of my faves! Stay warm and snug! Hugs, Teri xoxo

Thank you all for visiting me in the blizzard blizzard today 😉
Tammy ~ the jar says Horlick’s Malted Milk on it … it has a hole drilled in the back with an electric candle inside. I like to buy the lightbulbs that have the swirls on top which look like a ‘real’ flame … well almost … it’s been around for years and years now
You can get a closer look (not sure that it helps) by double clicking on the photo 🙂
Ho Ho Enjoy your snow too!

Oh goodness. We got torrential rain yesterday and last night. I talked to my folks and brother and family today – they are in Arlington right on the Potomac River. They said it was beautiful and they were hunkering down. I think all of our rain became ya’lls snow. It looks beautiful. I wish I was there. I love these kinds of events as long as I have power and food. Enjoy it!

Walkin’ in a winter wonderland….Oh MY! We have flood warnings all over Georgia from the same storm system. Had our temps been lower we would be sharing in all your white fluff. Love your dreamy photos of the beautiful side of freshly fallen snow!

Gorgeous Patty. Haven’t seen snow like that since we lived in Flagstaff. One thing about it, the sun will come out and melt it. But it is fun while it lasts. Is that a play house I see?

Ho Ho HO – Santa got us into the mood! Loved wataching it all day long and also at the same time decorating the home. Yes, me who said “no way” to decorating this year. Wow – what a way to get me in the mood. LOL. Now time to get to decorating and save the digging out for later.

Oh … what BEAUTIFUL snowy photos and what a marvelous outlook! I must admit that it looks VERY cold where you are, but having spent a Christmas in Minnesota years ago I know it’s ‘toasty’ indoors and there are many fun holiday things to do! Thanks for sharing the link to the snowy Colorado photos. I plan to check them out next. Of course, the photos I’ve shared recently from Southern California have no snow but might be a welcome change of scenery for you at some point 😉
Hugs and blessings,

Here I am with sunshine and a high that is supposed to be in the high 40s, low 50s today. What a big difference in your landscape.
I love the way you documented the snow as it was falling. Nice to see what you saw from your kitchen window. Hope you are staying warm and dry after taking all those pictures.
