~Peace Angel~

being a little slow this year in feeling the holiday spirit … we saw some beautiful fresh table top trees at our local Whole Foods Market (wish I’d taken a photo of them all lined up looking so cute and inviting) … normally we do a BIG tree jam packed with ornaments … it felt over whelming this year

the snow blizzard came … time was right to get the table top tree set up … lights are the domain of Mr Magpie … we have a pretty star burst  for the top of the tree … BUT it would not light up for some reason … being snowed in … we could not run out and get something to replace it … the top of the tree goes on first and the rest of the tree lights follow

I looked over my shoulder at a fun wire shelf that has doll parts on it and blurted out …  “we could use Oma’s doll head for the tree topper” … Mr Magpie did not skip a beat he got busy lining up the lights behind the eye sockets … seemed the prudent thing to do 🙂

that is the story of HOW the doll head ended up being our tree top angel this year … oh and Elizabeth’s swan feathers were the crowning glory … lovely white wings for the angel our son does not like at all ... it really is true you can’t please everyone … for some reason Mr Magpie and I enjoy her looking down on us

the take down (which our son is never involved in) will be much easier … sad that it comes to that … but the words SIMPLIFY …  SIMPLIFY keep coming to mind

  1. Beautiful trees. How clever to use the dolls head. I’m so glad your DH went along with your fabulous idea. I love feathers and these are gorgeous.

  2. She’s reminiscient (sp?) of your banner! You know how I feel! I think if you look at her as having a tree for a body…it helps those that do not have our vision! It’s beautiful…and I can’t believe you had all that snow on your car!!! Merry Christmas!!!

  3. After waking up this morning and watching a movie called the “Catacombs” – nope, not a travel Parisian movie, nope, more bizarre – why does it not surprise me to come upstairs and go to your blog to see this? I LOVE it. YOur doll head, once again, a delight to see. You know you are walking on the wild and eerie side of the street with me…… Happy holiday Monday! Happy Winter Solstice back at you…..

  4. I love your trees. The Doll head tree is wonderful. A labor of love. All of your ornaments look so pretty. I could almost smell the tree. The feathers look so cool as wings. Thank you so much for sharing the tree with me.
Are digging out yet? I still cannot believe how much snow you guys received. What a winter wonderland.

  7. I loved Linda’s suggestion of thinking of the tree as your angel’s body. (You know how I have a hard time with disembodied doll parts!) But I DO love the tree and the angel’s wings. But what I love most of all is that Mr. Magpie wired her up! Now THAT’s Christmas “Love”!!! LOL! Holiday Hugs & Cheer! Terri xoxo

  9. Wow, if this is how you decorate your tabletop tree, I would LOVE to see your full size tree. This is so beautiful and full of ornaments. Seems like the simplify time is still quite long. This puts my little trees to shame, especially with all those handmade and personal ornaments!

  24. How deliciously creepy cool is that? Maybe I’ll need to do my own tree for the studio next year. I know I’m the only one in my family that would go for it, but I think it’s just hauntingly beautiful!

  28. Thanks for popping by. Loving your tree but not your snow!!!! Looks nice but wouldn’t like to live in it, hehe. We are having over 100 degree days here, though today (Christmas) is most pleasant. I hope to get back into my art in the New Year. Love your stuff as always. Hugs and best wishes for a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
