Mr Magpie was busy at the anvil yesterday
flattening cutlery … I Love altered cutlery in every form and fashion
hammering letters with metal punches that we have had around for some time now
my job was to think of the words and where they would go and then rub some paint on to highlight each letter
it started with “thyme”
we have had the idea for a while now and most recently saw this very thing in an Anthropologie catalog sold as plant markers
more words on the way
many thanks to Dot Ferrero for the beautiful feathers … in a future post I will have to tell you more about Dot’s hens and chicks

I just found an ID metal stamper set online Friday – have to order it!!! This is exactly what I was planning to do for the shop!!!You and I are on the same wavelength – except you already have all the necessary equipment!!!! LOL these are gorgeous!!!!

I am like so impressed. I love them all. You probably already know this idea— a friend showed me her fork that was turned into an easel. OK, where do “you” people come up with these just too darn good ideas…. and your cutterly is always amazing and smashing …. *applause* *applause* to the efforts of the Magpie and her Mr. You two do make the dynamic duo….

What a team!!! You’ve supplied the creative idea and Mr. Magpie supplied the “muscle”. The results are a-m-a-z-ing! The little “hope” stake is the perfect touch in your fairy garden. So pretty!!! I love my garden and especially the herbs and I am always looking for labels which stand the test of time, your idea with the spoons is so brilliant! Unfortunately I haven’t got an anvil 😦 hhmmm need to find another way of doing this …. thank you so much for sharing this.

Oh Beautiful work I love them so much! I remember punching letters in to metal when I was at school (I did wood & Metal work) And hubby is so sweet to help you.
I will be having hubbys help to alter the wonderful furniture I have but it’s began to rain so I need to wait for the sun for a few days as it’s large furniture and will need to be out side for a day or two!

WOW !!! we live near Beaulieu motor museum -( UK ) they had a Cadalac decorated with lovely old cutlery which had been bent by Uri Geller ! It was fantastic !

This is too weird! I was just at a friend’s “everything’s free” art sale (she’s moving — got some great Golden stuff) and someone else there snatched the silverware and said, “I’ve seen pictures of these as garden markers! They look great!” — And they do — at least yours do! Wonderful! I’m doubly inspired!

oooh, i love your cutlery markers, they are wonderful. they’d look awesome anywhere. i especially like the forks with the curled tines and the one with the bird’s neast and feathers. what fun. your garden looks beautiful.
