our sweet niece is getting married in October … her sweetheart’s family is making a wedding quilt with squares created by various family members …the future bride and groom picked these cotton fabrics to work with
I was so excited about being a part of this … but must admit sewing a straight line is not my strong suit (no laughing!) … lucky for me a talented and super nice friend came to the rescue and sewed the fabric pieces around my photo transfer and got me ready for the stitching … if you haven’t tried Lesley Riley’s Transfer Artist Paper (TAP) I highly recommend giving it a whirl … it transfers so quickly and effortlessly you can hardly believe your eyes!
it is washable and can be ironed too … so versatile
the photo was taken on the beach (it may have been their engagement photo) … it was altered in photoshop by the photographer … I knew it would make a perfect focal point for our quilt square
all I had to do was a little blanket stitching and embroider our names in the lower right hand corner … as requested … it has already arrived in California … can’t wait to see the finished quilt!

Patty, she will looooove this! It is perfect , and stunning, and something to treasure forever!

What an adorable photo you chose. And of course, your hand sewing was great, too. Like you, I couldn’t sew a straight line if my life depended on it. Gotta admire those “real” quilters. You did a great job with your square, though.

How Exciting! My SIL and I did this for our older sibling’s 40th Wedding Anniversary. We had all the family make a square using chosen fabrics and it was so fun and fabulous to see the finished project. I am so glad you did this ~ it will be a cherished treasure I am sure! Have a terrific week Patty! And your square is so awesome ~ I love what you did!!!

Patty! What a brilliant idea. I love your fabric square for the quilt. The photo transfer is crisp and clear and I love your choice of fabric around it. So beautiful; what a wonderful and meaningful gift. That TAP – is it good on canvas, too? I have a soft canvas book, here; it’s small but wondering. I could make a little book for my granddaughter. Love ya – Marilyn xxoo

Patty this is fabulous as always!! I’ve been thinking about using TAP for a while but it’s just not available over this end. I’m not always happy with my transfer “outcomes” currently, but I shall persevere with whatever methods that are available. thanks for sharing..

Patty, What a fun project/idea/keepsake…love your quilt square and the personal touches you embroidered. That photo is tremendously creative. I have a pack of the TAP and used it to make one of my sisters a couple of personalized gifts and it didn’t come out like I had hoped. I transferred it to canvas and am wondering if the nubbiness of the material was the culprit? What kind of fabric did you use for your photo? Sending you some cooler, fresh mountain air and hugs, xo, Sue

This is such a brilliant idea. I love it when people make time to do things in a traditional way instead of picking stuff from department stores for such big events
