finally some time to play in one of my journals … it started with a lady and a tea cup
… then the word “Escape” popped up from a magazine … “perfection” was part of a printed out quote on my work table
… I so enjoy creating with no finished product in mind … just using what is handy … letting the pages flow
… a piece of pink and green diamond scrapbook paper helped set the color scheme … scraps of paper … gesso … Caran d’ache Neocolor II watercolor crayons and some rubber stamping
a fun surprise when I looked very closely at the right hand page … left corner … the drawings from Dover say “Work with good material” … Love that

Love it – and I too enjoy just starting to create with the items around me – picking them up and before I know it – there it is and I think, “hmmm, how did I get here?” It is a fun epiphany. Hugs

this is so interesting. looking at all the little bits … and “work with good material”… that can apply to so many things. perfection can be so limiting, keeping us from trying in the first place. i was just speaking with someone else about that… i’ll let that bounce around my mind today.

Beautiful spread, Patty. When I saw the lovely lady in the teacup, I immediately thought of your very innovative and creative “Tuesday Tea” posts, and for a nano-second, I really thought it WAS Tuesday!!! LOL!
Love your quote. Being a Type A personality, I should type this and post it where I can see it daily. Hugs, Terri xoxo

what a great story. such a beautiful work.
“escape perfection” is what I’ve been working on recently. I’m learning to love my mistakes. enjoying the process and not focusing on the outcome all the time.
and the quote is perfect, too.

That is a wonderful page, Patty. The scrapbook paper ended up being such a subtle background. I remember playing with Caran d’ache colors with my daughter when she was young. Never thought of them as a fine art supply but they are ultra-cool! I wonder if she still has them…
Thanks for all the details you give. I love hearing about how you make things. I think that is the mark of a good artist…someone who is confident enough to share.
Hugs,
Suz

Just what I needed to hear. The illusion of perfection is a mirage and a trap. Think how limitless we would be without it.
