thimble bells…
thimble all the way…
the last swap of the season for me with my Queen Bee friends…
we challenged ourselves to use some junk or treasure and turn it into an ornament…
I was inspired by thimbles and little bells that I have had around for awhile…
I took apart a bird, bead and tinsel garland I bought some years ago…Mr Magpie drilled holes in the center of the thimbles as my attempt at doing it went cockeyed…I am more of a gluer than a driller I think…
the tiny round bells work perfectly inside the thimbles…they make a sweet tinkling sound…which brings to mind one of my favorite lines in Chris Van Allsburg’s book “The Polar Express…

I love thimbles. I’ve always wanted to turn one into a necklace. thanks for reminding me. but yes, the drilling part keeps scaring me away. 🙂

Certain things are ahrder to drill than others. For me it is old silverware.

We watched Polar express this week. We watch lots of Christmas films coming up to Christmas ending with the nativity bliss!

You know now I am going to be looking for thimbles at the thrift store!!LOL You think as a quilter, I’d have some!!! I do have a huge bag of bells. LOVE the way you incorporated the bird in a tinsel nest too!! Gorgeous!!!

I only have ONE thimble, and it belonged to my Grandmother. What an awesome project, though. I’m glad Mr. Perfect Driller took over, or you would have lots of headless thimbles. And the way you displayed your thimble and bird is awesome. Simply wonderful wire wrapping, too.
I actually stopped by to snag a couple of those freebies you left for us, then realized I had missed a couple of posts. That’ll teach me to be gone.
