WS: Pens, Pencils and Brushes

the Wednesday Stamper challenge this week is using pens, pencils and brushes in what you create…

*you can click for a closer look*

I used a painted tag I had done awhile ago with a failed transfer…

too good to throw away…

I sanded it…stamped on tissue paper and on the tag directly…

one of my favorite pencils is the black Stabilo Aquarellable for Paper-Glass-Plastic-Metal…it was just one of the wonderful things I learned at a Misty Mawn workshop some years ago…she is one of THE best and most inspiring teachers I have encountered…

you outline with it as light or as dark as you would like and then touch it with a damp brush…it gives a great shadow effect and can be repeated if you wish…

I finished the tag with a piece of sari ribbon

Well Patty; you’ve met this challenge right on! Wonderful tag with challenge.

I agree with you about the Stabilo. When I took Misty’s class, recently, she introduced us to it and I have been using it ever since.

  4. Delightful tag! And what a good reminder about not just throwing out mistakes. I think it sometimes takes more creativity to see what can be done using the mistake than just tossing it out. I try to teach my first graders this in all their creations. It is a life lesson that can be carried over to lots of areas.

And thanks for the tip about the stabilo. I will look for that at the art store. And how wonderful to take a class from MM. I cannot wait until her new book is released ~ can you?
Love you Patty ~ Have a beautiful rest of the week! ~ Katie

i love it – love it. I screwed up two transfers on tags last week and canNOt throw them away. it would be a lamentable waste of soft gel. now I am Not going to fool myself and think that they’ll ever end up as slammin as your tag just did – but, i might get those guys out now and see if i’ve calmed down over it…

  13. I love that you can make something out of a “mistake” or “fail” and it’s as wonderful as if it was on purpose. If things don’t go my way, they usually find themselves in the trash bin (along with my good mood, lol).

Oh, and I loved seeing a dipping pen in there ❤ I use them regularly for inking my drawings (some would say that it is so outdated, but to me, there's nothing better).
