listen with your heART…

a few more pages in my How It Works” Encyclopedia art journal…

the image of the mechanical man on the right was the only thing on these paint scraped pages for the longest time…

the vintage lady popped up and my pages evolved from there… I stapled the gauzy piece of fabric on the left side…just because…

now for some colors that I do not often go to…

paint scraping pages way ahead of time gave me the chance to stretch out of my comfort zone a bit…

hair has played a fairly prominent role in my life off and on for many years …

on my wedding day it was my veil … long and down to my waist…

I got it all cut off for Locks of Love about eight years ago and kept it no longer than shoulder length for a good many years … ok this feels like TMI … guess I felt I wanted to explain about why all of the altered hair shots at the bottom of my journal pages LOL … enough said … it is getting long again … it can help keep me warm this winter…

wishing you a happy September Equinox however that fits into your neck of the woods

  9. Dear Patty,
Fabulous. I love the uniqueness of each page. Oddly enough, my favorite is the track runner. Not my usual style. They are all fabulous. The hair picture is amazing. Each one is different. Locks of love…what a great thing to do.

  10. I’m growing out my short hair for winter…but it probably won’t be as long as yours was! Bet it was beautiful.
That mechanical man seems to be a bit smitten with the new girl next door! Who wouldn’t be? She’s so pretty.
Lovely pages and cute story about your hair. We women sure seem to have had varied hairstyles over the years, haven’t we? I love being a girl.

  11. Great pages! Love the hair images! I always had long hair well into my 40s… I keep it short now… partly because I like not having to deal with it, but mostly because of hot flashes! Plus… I look younger with short hair… so much for those hot flashes!

  18. You can never have TMI, Patty. I was amazed at the length of your hair. SO impressive. I tried to grow my hair long once. It got down a bit past my shoulders and quit growing. Not too surprising and natural curly hair is hard to control and style. Now the only thing long are my bangs. Everything else is less than half an inch in length. I applaud you for your generous donation to Locks of Love, too. My friend Joseph did the same thing when he cut his hair shoulder length after having it come to his waist for many years.

Back to the art! I am a big fan of yellow and orange, so I really like those pages. Of course, I wouldn’t mind having the money that came in those bands, either (grin). Great autumn colors, too. And that mechanical man is a hoot!

  22. These are great — I’ve been stuck in my comfort zone for a little too long and really need to do a project that gets me out of there. I like what you did very much, spreading into a new zone.

On another note, Locks of Love is just wonderful and I admire you so much for doing that.

  23. Beautiful pages! The sea greens and blues of the first are so soothing.
I am also very amazed at the length of your hair! WOW! That must have been a chore to care for. My girl got hers cut just before 1st grade for Locks of Love. Two 10 inch pigtails were cut off. She had the cutest short “do” after that. She’s growing it again for the same cause. I was as well until I heard from someone that they won’t take color treated hair. Bummer. So I got my first hair in almost 2 yrs last week. 🙂
