as promised here are some stone angels from one of the most beautiful cemeteries we have ever visited…
I know many of you Love stone angels as much as I do…
Mr Magpie and I spent hours on a gloriously sunny day just outside the walls of one of the old fortresses of Old San Juan…
the detail and beauty of the statuary was very powerful and moving…
we snapped photos left and right…
Mr M even brought his one legged tripod … unipod?…
my camera is so forgiving it compensates with triple anti shake
after me enjoying a couple of cups of delicious café con leche with breakfast…
back in the 16th century
cemeteries, slaughterhouses and such were always built outside the fortress/city walls…
lots more angel photos to come on future Sundays…
Happy Happy Birthday to my beloved angel here on earth Mr Magpie…the Light of my life OXOXOXO
Gorgeous angels! … indeed a very picturesque cemetery. Happy birthday to Mr. M.

and another thing………..these monuments are CLEAN! Not a bit of dirt or moss growing on them, either! Does the cemetery have a staff to come out and clean the marble?
and another thing…….the ‘lacey’ quality on the angels arms is so pretty.
Thank you again……

Oh Patty! Could this setting next to the ocean be anymore perfect? Your captures of these magnificent works of art is awesome. Very moving indeed. To think of the time and talent that went into creating these….thank you for sharing them. They’ll definitely be showing up some journal pages!
And sending birthday wishes to your Mr. It always warms my heart when a Mrs. of a few years {wink} still holds a burning torch so high for her Mr. So refreshing! xo, Sue
