this Sunday all of the photographs were taken by my Mr Magpie…
we both had our cameras that day in the cemetery…
and were snapping pix like crazy…

What beautiful statuary in this cemetary – we don’t see this on new graves anymore – not in NZ anyway.
My favourite is the crouching angel with the beautiful large wings – I would love to have her watching over me!!

Thankyou so much generous friend, they are soo beautiful, it must have been a fantastic experience to stand there between all this ancient angel art, dear Patty.I have already transferred one of yotr photoes to fabric, and will use it in a collage.

Oh what fabulous statues! I cannot imagine all the time that went into carving them! It’s amazing the detail that they got! I would have been running around like crazy trying to photograph them all! I especially love the one that is kneeling with her wings behind her. Can we use these in quilties and collages that we sell? Just want to ask before I do.

Hi dear one! I had to think about you the other day… there’s a large cathedral in ‘s Hertogenbosch’, a city in the Netherlands. It was completely cleaned and renovated – that took a few years, and to top it off they placed another statue along with the ‘clean’ ones… it’s an angel with a cellphone! I don’t have a good photo myself (although ‘Den Bosch’ is not far away from where I live) but on this blog you can see a good photo (click on it to enlarge)

they are all so beautiful! we saw a cemetery very much like that one when we were in Sydney Australia a few years ago. The tropical sunlight really is so perfect for all the white marble. Just beautiful!
