Marit does it again this time her inspiration is all about using thread in your art journaling …
I have not used the sewing machine to do any ‘real’ sewing for a long while but really do enjoy sewing paper and other mixed media bits with the machine I inherited from my mom…
I fashioned a shirt out of map paper and had to laugh abit at the shape of it deciding that I liked the winged looked…
I zigzagged randomly on the shirt leaving some loose threads hanging…
scraps of paper, fabric and dry wall mesh from my work table with some gesso and paints for the background…
washi tape, rub ons and black and yellow shading with Stabilo Woody crayons for the finishing touches…
already looking forward to next Tuesday and Marit’s Quirky Dutch Summer #8
What a great journal entry Patty. Lovely words and wonderful texture. xoxo

What a perfectly quirky piece. I love the shirt AND the quote. Never thought of it that way, but I would be glad to give a thread! I like how you treated the wire mesh, too. I’d completely forgotten I have some of that. Isn’t it fun when you don’t have to rely on die cuts to create a spread? I so love what you make!!!

Gorgeous,my dear Patty,-
The shirt(made from a geografic card) is wonderfully telling about the need, all over the world, to give threads to needing people, to create a whole piece of cloth –a shirt–
Such a wonderful spread , I love it, and all the layers of paint and papers, gesso and wall mesh.
Hugs from Dorthe, xx

Beautiful page Patty! love that you used a map for the shirt and I’m with you on loose threads and random sewing for mixed media-NO measuring or preciseness involved! 🙂

Your work is always so lovely and detailed. I tried to find washi tape here at the Japanese store but the selection was very limited. Disappointing. Have a fabulous day. Tammy

I’ve said it before but I’m so impressed that you have the forethought to stop and take photos along your process. Wonderful piece!!
I’ve been bombarded with children lately….I’m so tired I can’t even think about sleeping. Hence the browsing of blogs. 🙂 And it’s not even that late but my mind is fried…. That’s for the wonderful sites!

There is such an attractive whimsical quality to this piece. The butterfly is a wonderful addition, we all seem to find butterflies so appealing don’t we.The use of Gesso is amazing (oh how I love Gesso).
Patty, just to say thank you for the wonderful comments left for me. I really did enjoy working on the Shakespeare character canvas.
Have a lovely Sunday.
