two years ago we planted a simple Passion flower vine in a decorative pot by our front door…
it never bloomed which was disappointing…
this Spring the vine took off again surprising us by growing out of the bottom of the pot…
Passiflora vines are not usually hardy here in Virginia with our freezing winters…
the vine gets plenty of sun out front but I read that they like a good bit of water so I have been giving it a bucket or two each day and talking sweetly to it…
it seems to be working…
we were surprised to find out that each gorgeous bloom only lasts for one day…
amazing…
today I am enjoying a cup of Yogi tea which is delicious with nothing added to it…

I collected seeds from passion flower from Tennessee where it was a perennial. My vine lasted one year..when winters were colder.
Check out Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Art Center in Solomons,Md.
Went there Friday to make a plastic water bottle flower.

Hi, Patty. I am so glad that the vine yielded nice flowers this year–I am sure it was all of the talking you did 😉 . I love the saying about happiness. So often we try to achieve happiness when real happiness is there in front of us to begin with–love it!

Worth the wait! It looks very healthy and productive. I saw the tendrils and they reminded me of my cantaloupe which has flowers, but nothing else. It[‘s turning out to be a good year for flowers, at least. Happy tea today.

Patty , it is stunning- I never tryed them here, but they would have to grow inside, in our climate. Love those curlings, and the flower is just amazing. Wonderful for you dear friend, that it choosed to come back,and even bloom this year.
I also have a cup of Yogi tea, sometimes 🙂

Imagine lasting only one day. This got me thinking – because the bloom lasts for so little times, doesn’t that mean that its beauty is all the more appreciated.

Thanks for allowing me to have tea with you today- and I so love your garden. I’ve seen that flower many times and have taken pictures of it- but never knew it’s name. And- I had no idea it only lasts a day. Some exquisite butterflies live only a very short time as well. Beauty is allusive. We must grasp it and for the moment- hold the joy and ingrain it in our memories! xo

wow that flower is incredible – almost too beautiful to be real! i discovered yogi tea last fall at the outcamp when a client left a couple boxes behind. it became my special treat every afternoon…i saved all the tags and now i’m using them as the base for this year’s sketchbook project ~ it’s like instant inspiration! happy weekend patty!

Oh Patty, this brings back childhood memories. We had these vines growing everywhere back in the mid South and delighted to make dancing girls out of the blossoms. Your pix are wonderful. I’m so glad you are getting to enjoy the full effect. I may be confused but it seems that we ate the inside of the pods, spitting out the seeds. I hope they weren’t poison. Thanks for commenting on my phone doodle. I almost didn’t post it but when I colored it, it looked ok, so I did.
