a couple more pages for both the Art Journal Journey (Challenge Yourself) and Dawn’s Journal Journey’s (Birds) challenges this month…
I have wanted to try my hand at using water soluble oil pastels and gesso for some time now…
first scribbling on my encyclopedia pages…
then blending with the white gesso and adding a paper doily from a tea tray enjoyed with a special friend recently…
I made a copy of a face from a magazine and various cut out flowers from catalogs along with a birds nest for ‘hair’…
the bluebird of happiness…
Rumi’s quote speaks to me again and again…
a bit of sari fabric and some velvety rickrack…

it is amazing from start till finish, and the layers each add to that beauty, dear Patty.
I love you cut out photoes from mags. and the beautiful Sari silk and ribbon- the pattern on the pages (stamped? ) and the happy colours!

So much to love on this two page spread, like the velvet rick rack, something I have never seen before. And the face. How awesome. What a great way to alter it.
Of course, I would love someday to own some of those lovely oil pastels. Mine are not water soluble, so I have to use a turpentine substitute and don’t get the creaminess you get.
All in all, a very good job of both words and images. Excellent color choices and great composition.
