here are my final photographs for Rinda’s scavenger hunt this year (if you like you may visit my Part 1 and Part 2 as well)…
16. A windmill
you can see lots of modern windmills off in the distance here dotting the Scottish countryside…
and a closer look at these giants which we also have here in the states…
here is a beautiful windmill we found on a recent emergency trip we took to California in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco…
17. Candle(s)
this is a special candle inside a Swiss paper luminaria from my sweet friend Margaret…
18. Your local pub/bar, coffee house or tea shop
here in the Metropolitan Washington DC area we are inundated with Starbucks coffee shops…we like using REAL ceramic mugs when we visit our local spot…
19. A fisherman
Mr Magpie snapped a photo of a young man fishing off the back of a boat on Lake Windermere in the Lake District in the UK…
20. A dinosaur
a visit to the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh found this good sized Tyrannosaurus Rex…
the museum was wonderful
and the views from the garden rooftop
were quite spectacular too…
21. A photograph of you with an artistic tool or craft supply (you cannot substitute for this item)
Mr Magpie snapped a photo of me at the amazing Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens just outside of Washington, DC a few days after our return from the UK back in June…
my camera is a favorite art tool that I would definitely not want to be without…
Bonus/substitute items.
If you find any of the above items too difficult, feel free to substitute either (or both) of these items.
You can substitute up to two items, but you cannot substitute Item #21
*A person wearing an outfit (or item of clothing) that symbolizes your country
just to be clear we do NOT know this person decked out in red white and blue on the fourth of July…
when I spotted him at the gas station while we were out driving I yelled “stop the car” and my quick acting driver/co conspirator did just that…
you don’t see this sort of get up every day here in the states 😉
*A sundial
we found this relatively modern 1971 sundial in the garden of William Shakespeare’s birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon…
and this vertical sundial was in an Oxford College courtyard…
many thanks to Rinda again this year for a really fun photo scavenger hunt…
These are really challenging and it seems like you had fun doing them. Love your fisherman! 😉

I had to laugh at the windmills. They are all around my area, and many are within a few miles of me. However, as I watch more and more British and European TV shows, I notice they are a way of life in the countryside. I was especially surprised to see them in large bodies of water.
Your photos are, as always, spectacular. And of course, they were right on point, too.
Saw your comment on Halle’s blog and was thrilled to read about your trip. So glad things are starting to work out. Now I’m off to see what else I’ve missed in the two days I was offline.

Patty, dear woman, the photo of you and the lotus flowers, is just the best and most beautiful!!!
Also love the one with that younger man dressed in your “flag” I can tell you, that when in Copenhagen to celebrate Gustav and Henning in July, we also saw a woman totally dressed in the American flag… no photo,– but she wore like a ballet dress,-tights .stars and stripes …. and the upper “blouse, was also showing the flag, and then there was ofcourse a real hat ,too in stars and the real colours -she was fantastic… little, very round and beautiful!!
I love the old windmiills, we have many here ,-but also many of the new ones produsing electricity ,-in Denmark.
Hugs from here, and xx

Must say I fell in like with the mugs in your Starbucks photo – don’t know what they use here but I suspect it’s the usual paper ones (boring!). I’ve enjoyed your photo scavenger hunt posts!

Dear Patty
I had to chuckle at your declaration that you do not know the person decked out in red, white and blue!
A wonderful post.
Patty, I will be writing a post about this but to say that you cannot use my old e-mail address. I literally spent all day yesterday on the phone to AOL for them to resolve an issue with my AOL account and they refuse to do so. Incredibly frustrated and matters made worse as they do not have a U.K. base and really I was having the biggest rant possible – not at them although my frustrated conduct surely did come across, they would not listen and would not help.
I have since set up a hotmail account at
ReadingRoom12@hotmail.com
I cannot access my old e-mails, retrieve them in any way and have no access to e-mail addresses, including your own.
Patty, as we communicate I so wanted you to be aware of this situation.
Have a wonderful Sunday.
Wishes
Lynne

And so good to see YOU in the garden. I love putting faces with everyone’s names and blogs.

It’s been so much fun to see the differences in photos from all around the world. Although, the windmills I photographed look a lot like the ones in your first photo – but they are in a desert setting rather than lush green grass.
