Conny’s challenge theme over at Mix it Monthly for August is “Crazy Dresses”…
when a graduation photo of seventeen year old me popped up while searching for something else I decided to put myself in a crazy dress that I painted and doodled and stamped on…
my Mutti was a talented seamstress and growing up I was lucky to have a nice array of pretty dresses and outfits that she made for me…
patterns back then were inexpensive and fabric was reasonably priced…
I spent many an hour leaning on the wall watching her busy at her Pfaff sewing machine while we chatted…
I happened to have a nice scrap of painted and stamped paper from cleaning brushes and such on my work table that fit the color requirements which is the part of Mix it Monthly that I always find to be the most challenging…
I continued sloshing paints around using a few rubber stamps and some Woody Stabilo pencils too…
stamping on tissue paper is a favorite thing of mine and you may also recognize some of my plaster stenciled tissue behind my head and on my dress …
another fun challenge that led me in a quite unexpected direction…~♥~
Of course you are dressed in blue and have wings! You are beautiful Patty.

This is such an interesting post, loved to read the details and see your painting desk in action. It’s definitely a good fun crazy dress. I agree with you about the colour scheme, sometimes it’s hard to remember in the white-heat of designing!

Such a nice creation you made around your youth photo on which you look very sweet. The butterfly wing looks good and you gave yourself a holy shine around the head like a madonna. 🙂 The colours and background texture I like very much.
Have a nice weekend.

Your Mutti and my Grandmother must have been soul sisters. I’ve often commented that while I was growing up, fabric was affordable and patterns were cheap. I think my Grandmother may have even designed a few of her own patterns. So your story resonates with me, dear friend. I could relate.
I think you have become your mother. The dress you created for yourself has wings so you can fly and your halo shows how sweet and wonderful you are. You made a lovely, lovely book page.

Such a lovely photograph of you and I wonder what your 17 year old self would be thinking if she knew that at another stage in her life, her attire would be transformed into a magical dress with wings and that friends from all corners of the world would be viewing her in her new dress!
Fabulous display of imagination and artistry on display.
