three little birds…

trying to settle down here while part of me is still at the beach…

Magpie's Nest Silver Lake BREATHE

I happened to have a couple of pages started in one of my little gesso magazine page journals so I got busy adding finishing touches…

Magpie's Nest Acrylic Empty Marker

with a new to me paint pen I was excited to learn about in a which is the best white marker conversation with local mixed media art friends (thank you Leiann)…

Magpie's Nest Montana Marker Tips

you can see in the first photo of the empty marker that it has a metal ball inside for mixing and special paint that is recommended to not clog the spring loaded tip (the true test of a pen for me is how it works weeks and months after first using it)…

*Note: Golden Paints has a new HIGH FLOW paint line that works in these markers as well*

Magpie's Nest Three Little Birds (1)

doodling with the paint pen helped add an extra layer to my pages…

Magpie's Nest Three Little Birds (2)

so far I’ve used the Extra Fine tip which feels more like “medium” to me (the “fine” tip looks quite thick)…Magpie's Nest Three Little Birds

Bob Marley’s song Three Little Birds has a great sound with uplifting lyrics…

“Don’t worry about a thing,
‘Cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin’: “Don’t worry about a thing,
‘Cause every little thing gonna be all right! “

Rise up this mornin’,
Smile with the risin’ sun,
Three little birds
Each by my doorstep
Singin’ sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin’, (“This is my message to you-ou-ou: “) … Chorus

this is getting a little long  and I still have lots of blog friends to visit so I will share my other pages on another day…

  2. That’s exactly what I missed lately, so beautiful, love that extra layer and the three little birds, very inspirational. By the way I also use mostly the extra fine tip pen, somehow the fine tip seems like a brush but then I prefer the brush for more texture! xoxo Ruth

  3. Dear Patty, that is totally new for me, to have penns you can fill up yourself, and then with different tips to add ,too !!! Wonderful, and your result using them is so amazing. The white pens I can get here, are not even close in leaving colour enought to be seen on white/grey background .
Love your birds page and the added doodling – so beautiful, sweet you.

  14. As soon as I read your title I had the beautiful Bob Marley song in my head. It brought back memories of a coach/ferry trip that my best friend Lorraine and I took to Amsterdam. In our early 20s and life was for living and Bob Marley playing on my Walkman … Happy Days 🙂
It interested me to read about the white marker because I have never found one that has made me happy. A gorgeous depth to your spread and I adore those little birds.
    Such a gorgeous photograph.
Have a lovely weekend dear Patty

  15. My daughter who is home from university is sleeping upstairs or I would show her your lovely post and the reference to Bob Marley’s sweet song. I will show her tomorrow when she finishes work. I really like the way the paint and the images work so well together on your journals, Patty. Those 3 little birds are so sweet. The image of you with your pretty parasol is lovely enough to frame too, What treasured memories you conjure of the beach.xxx

  16. I don’t own any pens that last MONTHS. In fact, I have a relatively new red pen that quit working yesterday when I was writing in my calendar. So I would love to have a pen that actually works for more than a few months. I hope you’ve found yours.

The birds are adorable. You put SO much into your pages, and they always impress me. This spread is wonderful.

Love you with your parasol on the beach, too. What a great photo.
