let’s put the kettle on…

out with the old and in with the new as we retired our trusty old stove top water pot…

Magpie's Nest DREAM w Ocracoke Shells

I have wanted an electric kettle for awhile now and was charmed by the graceful lines of the Bonavita … plus we were able to get it at a good price…

Magpie's Nest Bonavita Electric Kettle

I wanted to share a photo of our new kettle in action and only thought of it while home alone so using the Continuous Shooting feature on my Sony Cyber Shot and balancing the camera precariously against my chest I got busy (we do have a tripod but I was too impatient to fiddle with it)…

Magpie's Nest T Kettle

it pours so nicely even Mr Magpie remarked on it…

Magpie's Nest Bonavita pouring

several bursts of photos later I selected a handful to share… clicking through the photographs was like watching a slow motion cartoon of stop and start motion…

Magpie's Nest Let's Have Tea

so let’s join Elizabeth and Bleubeard and the other T Stands for Tuesday bloggers (the deliciously flaky apricot square sprinkled with pistachio bits is from Wegman’s Bakery and my cup of yummy Apricot with Passionfruit tea is from New Zealand … they made for a perfect treat) ~♥~

  1. Wow, a feature I’ve not heard of, but I’ve never owned a Sony. I’m quite certain my Nikon doesn’t have that feature. Really enjoyed you pouring the water into the cup, though. What surprised me was how much “color” you had in the tea as the water was being poured. I’ve sat and watched my tea turn colors while I snapped photos. Yours was colorful from the very beginning. I suspect I would love that water pot. I may have to put it on my Christmas wish list.

Thanks for sharing your new pot and tea with us for T this Tuesday.

  2. that new spout design is what all the baristas use for the new rage of pour over coffee here in Seattle and Portland. It allows for a more controlled, slow, steady pour that is perfect for pour over coffee. I can see that it works great for tea too 🙂

  5. That’s a pretty one, patty. I love my electric kettle and find I use it all the more because it is so simple — and cool, so no ugly moments from picking up the too-hot copper pot handle! I think I may make that cuppa right now!

  7. LOVE the beach blocks! Your new tea pot looks really marvelous-great pour spout and you did a great job with all the shots of the pour too.(I can just picture you getting these:) We LOVE Wegmans for so many reasons-but I have to say-their pastries are the closest to a true French patisserie I have come across in our area. Happy T day!

  14. Years ago I had an electric tea kettle that I used to bring to work to make tea. It was a workhorse and nowhere near as elegant as your kettle!

  22. That is a very elegant kettle there. I was amazed about how many still use stove top kettles in the US. Over here most use electric kettles. I helped myself to a truffle…hope you don’t mind!

Patty, can you hear my tummy rumbling, well I can tell you, seeing that pastry it is making me hungry. Pastries are my preference, oh for a nibble of this apricot square or a moist pain au chocolate or a pain au raisin …… you are such a temptress!
