there is so much to be thankful for in this life and focusing on gratitude has helped me get through many dark days…
I was charmed by these shadows on a door recently as the November sun dropped low in the sky (it gets dark now around 5pm)…

“The small things of life were often so much bigger than the great things . . . the trivial pleasure like cooking, one’s home, little poems especially sad ones, solitary walks, funny things seen and overheard.” -Barbara Pym
Patty I loved your shadow, it reminded me to the shadow theatres from my childhood. The swan is just great!

Wonderful photos, love the shadows on the door and the shot of the mushroom is fantastic. Yes, we have a lot to be thankful for, and sometimes it’s good to remind ourselves of it! Have a great week! Hugs, Valerie

Gorgeous photos my dear Patty. The texture of the mushroom is so interesting and your Shadow Theatre too. You are right, there are lots of little things every day to be thankful for it. Every day has its miracles, but we must have eyes to see it.
Have a nice week with lots of things to feel joy about it.

Wow your photos are gorgeous ! And you are right, when we are grateful for what we have it does help during dark (or stressful) times. There is a quote that I love: If you are grateful for everything, then whatever you have is enough. I have a stamp with that quote, it’s a treasure. Take good care, Hugs, Shirleyx

I would have known that was your photo whether I was here or not. That swan was a dead giveaway. And of course, I’m grateful to call you my friend, because I learn so much from you. The composition of the swan photo is quite stunning. Lots of fun to play with shadows. And it gets dark here about that time, too. By now it’s nearly 6 pm my time and it’s pitch black outside. You truly captured the spirit of the “grateful” season in this photo.

small things are definitely the ones that you hold in your memory – those little nuggets – easy to hold on to I suppose! Your photography is amazing – I love looking at those lines in the mushroom ruffles into ruffles! These dark early days have been a drag – I go into the “art room” turn all the lights on and some fun music and try and ignore it! Already looking for spring, Lisa xo

I might take that quote and do something with it for our family Thanksgiving. It rings so very true. Sometimes my heart feels as though it could burst with all the gratitude within. Life isn’t perfect, we all know that. But, oh — those blessings.

The sun begins to set here at 5:00 p.m., too. Much too early for me. By 7:00 p.m., my brains thinks it is time to go to bed and I have to force myself to stay up. 🙂 Have a lovely weekend. Tammy
