two posts in one day and three challenges in one post…
all I can say is it is nice and warm in my art cave cause baby it’s cold outside…
my initial inspiration was to use a beautiful swan postage stamp that I have had for some time (wish I could remember where I got it) and then one thing led to another with bits from my paper stash ..
I recently tried this technique for making resin like paper using thin book pages…an iron and beeswax…
it was easy and I was delighted to find that I could adhere torn pieces of waxed text with glue stick…
some found poetry which was revealed after coats of gesso and paint had been added to the journal page also helped to inspire me…
this spread is for the Moo Mania CIRCLES challenge (the Seven Wonders lady on the right started out as a moo that grew a bit with the addition of papers)
and my swan and lady also qualify for the AJJ BIRDS BEASTS & HUMANS challenge…
since it is about time to be thinking about a cover for my bulging gesso journal I am considering adding a metal ATC that I have been working on which fits in nicely with Conny’s Mix it Monthly PLAY WITH FABRIC challenge as it has plastered lace and ribbon trim…
Lovely pages with lots of wonderful details to see. Thanks for joining us at MM&M and AJJ! Goodnight! Hugs, Valerie

Wow! Another wonderful spread! I so love that swan stamp too! Do you know the Irish song, She Moved through the Fair’? There is the line ‘She made her way homeward with one star awake/Like the swan in the evening moves over the lake.’ Your spread reminded me of that. It is so beautiful. xxx

beautiful work Patty!! Oh where do I start? I’m spending much time in my “cave” too because of the arctic weather. Nothing like art to chase the blues (and the cold!) away. I love how the text papers overlap, and I am def. going to give that faux resin technique a try-thanks for the link! Swans…I’m beginning to get a little spooked about our telepathic messages-I am almost finished with a journal page in which I drew and painted-yes- a swan- with you in mind. As soon as I get it completed I will post-prob. on Tuesday. I love that you are already using some of your new products from Paper Artsy:) And your metal ATC-….I love everything about it-especially the dangling shells! Oh my, this must be my longest comment ever-but you provoked it my dear (wink).

I LOVE this. I really MUST try this technique. I’d seen it before (not from this guy, but a gal in GB), but had forgotten how nicely it turns out. Very clever use of the images from various dictionary pages. And your moo that expanded and grew is stunning. Overall, a great spread.
I also like the cover you are contemplating. The shells cause that ATC to be interactive, too, I bet!

Love that you even made waxed papers for this and good to know that this can be glued on with just glue stick. Wonderful elements are brought to an amazing spread!
And WOW … I am pleased with the fact that you managed to join three challenges in one – you are my GMT of the day! ( genuine multi – talent )
THANK YOU for supporting Moo Mania & More and Art Journal Journey and Mix it Monthly!
Once again .. a happy weekend and I hope it will become warmer soon in Virginia.
We have also minus 5 degrees now at this morning… think the snow will not melt …grrr.

So wonderful dear Patty.
Thank you for linking to the wax technique, it is a great way of achieving that see through look. I live on an island with many beekeepers, so I guess I can find wax,- well in fact I do have it, but in thin sheets, and I think I will burn my fingers using them like this.
I love your beautiful spread, with that wonderful swan stamp, and all the mix of lovely papers. The lilac handmade paper kind of make the nature tones, pop. So beautiful, is also your collaged metal atc , you share fantastic art and ideas, -thank you sweet friend.

High Patty, if it is cold outside it is the best time to make a little bit Art inside.
Great composition your new pages and the nice fabric artwork too. You used a leaf green and it shows me that you are longing for green outside.
Wish you a nice and sunny weekend. We are also waiting for a new garden time.

That waxed paper looks fabulous… and found poetry: my favorite! I should take out my file with cut out sentences and words and play with it once again – it’s been too long since I ‘found a poem’… happy Sunday my soulsister! (Oh, and it’s not very cold here – it almost feels like Spring today!)

Lovely way to use the swan stamp which is very beautiful in itself, I agree.

great technique… i have a bag of beeswax pellets that might work with a heat gun and then a craft iron… great idea… i have used Golden’s digital ground and gotten a nice coating on paper similar to resin sheets… but jeez i have so much bees wax from making my own medium… this is PERFECT
