the fragrance is very soothing and with it comes lots of sweet memories of time spent with friends…
some years ago after a fun afternoon on the back porch with special friends (Lennie, Judy and Jo Ann) making lavender wands… enjoying lunch and chatting…
our youngest son dubbed us ” The Lavender Ladies“…
this year I tried my hand at weaving a little lavender nest…
it was fun to try but not nearly as relaxing as weaving with ribbon...

The lavender nest looks very fiddly, and I’m sure you need very, very young pieces. I may try wands once my lavender gets bigger, but for now, all I have are three lavender flowers, which are not nearly enough to make a wand. Of course, I’ve always been engrossed by yours.
Thanks for sharing these unusual tea cup and teapot photos with us, as well as your lavender wands and nest for T this Tuesday. What a fun treat to see this technique again.

Very sweet nest. I bet your hands smell like lavender for days after making all those wands! I want to buy a lavender plant but I need to figure out where to plant it. Sun or shade?

Elizabeth I used the same sturdy stems for weaving the nest as I do for the wands. When the lavender is fresh it bends pretty nicely. Fiddly was the exact word that came to mind for me too. I use thirteen stems when I weave the wands.

Halle lavender likes LOTS of sun and very good drainage. They are such handsome plants with their silver foliage even in the winter giving nice bones to the garden.

I have this wonderful lavender I get from one of my favorite shelter blogs Apifera Farm and it is divine. Planted three munstead plants this year. I finally have sun, sun, sun. They are tiny but all of them bloomed. That and catmint are faves. Such pollinator attracters. Your weaving with ribbon is divine! xox

Oh what lovely photos of all these little lavender artworks. Most of all I love the little nest with the turquoise egg in it. Our lavender just starts to bloom because it was a little bit cold this May and June. Our peonies also just now start to bloom.

Every year I`m admirering your beautiful weaved lavender “bottles ” , they are so very lovely dear Patty, and you are an expert making them. And so you are with your photoes,-going through this post is so joyfilled, and I have been up and down some times, to see it all once more, lol- your colllages are gorgeous, and how I also love the nest,- it is the sweetest, dear friend.
Also so lovely with happy memories from friends gathering in your garden, and sweet words from your son!!

Mr Magpie and I are going to have another go at growing some lavender, as we have created lots of lovely compost lately in our composter. We’re going to really try with keeping pots well drained to start with. xxx

I like lavender and your next is adorable. We do have some lavender growing and a few years ago I tried to weave it as you did. I was not very successful and the stems snapped too often leaving me impatient. Your wands look lovely.
