Christmas in July and Celebration T…

this month’s turn of our local altered book round robin gave me a chance to get in the Christmas spirit thanks to my friend Fran’s Christmas themed tip in (more about tip ins here)…

Magpie's Nest Tip in backgrounds

I began by collaging various shades of white paper and old plastered book text onto the front and back of a sturdy piece of watercolor paper (6.50 x 9.75″)…

it was also a chance to get out the glitter to highlight the snow and icicles on a reused greeting card…

some peel and stick plastic icicles worked out nicely over and under the window…

Magpie's Nest Stille Nacht

with the first side complete I got busy on the reverse side where I also used part of an old greeting card adding trims and computer generated words…

Magpie's Nest Peace on Earthin preparation for our son’s visit home we have been sorting and clearing like crazy which is long overdue here and it was fun how many Christmas bits of this and that appeared so I put them in a basket with Fran’s tip in in mind (and let’s face it in the big scheme of things Christmas will be here again before we know it) …

Happy birthday boy

it is our son’s first time back  home for a visit since he moved to Colorado three years ago AND it was his 27th birthday so we had some celebrating to do…

hope your month is full of fun things to celebrate too ~♥~ I am joining in with Elizabeth’s Altered Book Lover here as well for T Stands for Tuesday

  5. Ahhhh… your Christmas theme reminds me of all the years I worked in a Dept. Store in the seasonal gift department. We would start setting up Christmas in July and everyone would grumble as they walked by… but as soon as that dept. was open they’d shop like crazy. 🙂 Love what you did with the card. That Birthday desert looks divine ♥♥♥♥♥

  11. Happiest of birthdays to your youngest son, dear friend. I know he will put a big smile on your face.

That’s a stunning Christmas spread. I was very, very impressed with the plastered book pages you used as a base for your tip-in. You are always, ALWAYS an inspiration.

Seems the purging bug has hit both of us hard. I also found a lot of Christmas related items I can use to create an entire AB or scrappy journal. Just need to find the time.

Thanks for sharing this lovely (I’m guessing) tort and Christmas spread with us for T this Tuesday.

  17. Patty,
So lovely that you and Mr Magpie are enjoying this precious visit from your son. Belated Birthday Wishes to him.
I was just the other day thinking about Christmas, with a slight shudder (!) and it is so true, it will be here in a flash. Although we haven’t had a summer as yet (although no surprise there, you think we would be used to that by now!) and finding it hard to believe it is nearly half way through July, already.
This is so precious and so gorgeously delicate. The icicles are perfection, they genuinely have that cold as ice appearance and the sweet, singing angel. So many beautiful details.
    Wishes

But today I have time to a short visit, with my closest friends, and your gorgeous pages of winter white beauty, and those fantastic icicles looking just as the reaL ones, what a beauty you have created,-and also on the other card/page my dear. The peace dowes on that wonderful wintery background, the touch of gold, and that lovely old post mark it is all perfection ,my friend.
