inspired by a sweet little country church that has been turned into a landscaping business…
as a bigger and more modern church probably was built to take its place…
the peeling white wood and arch windows are so pleasing to me reminding me of the little wooden church Mr Magpie and I were married in so many years ago…
I created two more pages in one of my art journals…
Sheila‘s fab theme of Architecture over at Art Journal Journey this month has had my wheels turning…
and I have been fiddling with cutting out magazine letters to create words lately…
I had to laugh at myself as I spelled and spelled again focusing while sitting in front of the tv to be sure I spelled the words correctly as I glued each letter in place and that I did not breathe too heavily which could have sent the letters flying…
since I am still staying close to home with my banged up toe Mr Magpie has been snapping lots of photos for me and I play with some of them with my iPhone apps…

Oh I so love to find old buildings ..especially churches ♥ The pictures you have are great and I love what you’ve dome with them..both in your journal and the phone app. Hoping that your toe heals quickly so that you can get out and about again 🙂

I got in to big a hurry and hit post before I was finished. I wanted to tell you of a tick I accidentally discovered that works great for keeping set out letters in place so you can check the spelling and placement. just lay them out the way you want them on a gelli plate …they don’t blow way and you can pick them up one by one to glue them down. I also use a sticky pad that was made for laying you cellphone on the car dash and it won’t slide off…I got them from a wireless sales person but I’m sure you can buy them some where . Hope that helps.

Wow Patty! Your page is so beautiful! I know what you mean about keeping your letters from blowing away, although mine isn’t so much letters as words that I cut from books to make up quotes! Hubby’s photos are great! Take care of yourself! Chrisx

A bit of a tease showing us your art journal with all the coloured pages hiding inside.
Funny how the longer we look at a word, the more it looks funny, even the simplest of words. Great idea to use magazine letters, all different.
I seriously love your creations, your art journal pages with the lovely window and the architectural drawings on the other side, and your photo-editing play, and rather like “October is the fallen leaf”, it has echoes of Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s words “Art is the Flower, Life is the Green Leaf”.

What a lovely journal spread and so perfect for the theme. Whether it be photography, or journalling I can always recognize the Szymkovicz style! I love the photos Mr Magpie took and I love your beautiful page with its arched window and peeling paint. I really like the effect of the magazine letters. Whenever I do collage, I always seem to mislay a vital little scrap – a tiny cut out bird or butterfly and spend ages searching frantically! Well done for keeping all the vital letters from blowing away! I hope that your toe is nt causing you pain and that the healing process will not take too long xx

You have truly outdone yourself. These are insanely wonderful pages. At one time I had a huge selection of letters I had cut from magazines. Then I realized I never used them, so got rid of them. Now I wish I hadn’t because you did such a great job finding the right letters for each and every word.
That last photo, the one you altered, looks like you added a halo around the church. I enjoyed the suggestion of it all.

Dear Patty, another wonderful spread, so wonderful with the building pieces under the text on left page, and the beautiful arch window, with a view ,-on the right ! I also sometimes looks for letters in magazines, and have difficulties in finding them ,after. 🙂

I love old buildings… I should go out and take photos more as I now live in a town with lots of old houses and beautiful architecture… thanks for the inspiration and I hope you will soon be able to go for long walks and take pics yourself. Big hug from Zeeland dear soulsister!

I’m so happy to see old churches (and schools) turned into something else rather than them being torn down and all that history lost. I’ve often dreamed of living in an old barn (refurbished inside of course!).

This is a wonderful post from you with the images of this pretty little white church! Is there a more romantic place to get married? Wooden churches does not exist here, they are all made of stone.
