our son moved to Colorado a few years ago and we have been lucky enough to get to fly out and spend Thanksgiving with him each year…
it is always exciting to visit new places but I must admit I was not totally prepared for the majesty and splendor waiting for us on this trip…
we chose to explore Moab, Utah…
sunset at Island in the Sky, Canyonlands National Park was so beautiful it made me cry…
Colin gave his father a break from driving and drove us all over Colorado and Utah showing us some of his favorite places…
he had hiked and camped in this area several times before…
you can see Mr Magpie and Colin holding our traveling tea cup in the photo above…
as you can imagine we went wild snapping photos with so much beauty all around us...
the drive out to Red Cliffs Lodge for a delicious Thanksgiving buffet offered breathtaking views along the mighty Colorado River…
on our last day in Moab we woke up to freshly fallen snow which charmed and excited us anew…
as we headed back to Colorado our son took us on a bit of detour through the Colorado National Monument with even more snow and awe inspiring beauty…
I have a Flickr folder with a few more photos HERE …
thank you very much for stopping by as I join everyone over at Elizabeth’s T Stands for Tuesday
and wish you a very happy first “official” Hot Tea Day too
Wonderful photos Patty, I can understand anyone going mad and snapping dozens of pics when it is all so breathtakingly beautiful. Have a good week, Happy T Day, Hugs, Valerie

Talk about jaw dropping gorgeous, I can see why you weren’t prepared for this majestic scenery. This is simply incredible, and the photos the two of you took seem to capture the desolate beauty of the entire area. I can also see it could be a bit overwhelming, because your photos are out of this world.
Thanks for sharing them and taking the traveling tea cup so it could be included in this beauty, too. And as always, thanks for joining T this Tuesday.

Wow- you have some gorgeous photos. We traveled out in this direction a few summers back, and it is absolutely spectacular. Lucky you to spend Thanksgiving there, and what a pretty season to visit, I really enjoyed this post! Hugs.

Majesty and splendor – such apt descriptions! When I have traveled in that part of the country, my eyes seemed to grow bigger by the minute trying to absorb all the beauty. They struggled to take it all in because the scenery is unbelievably, overwhelmingly breathtaking. Yay, for Hot Tea Day! I’m lifting my mug of tea in your honor this morning.

Overall, when I think of my landscape passions, I am called to greener mountains and lots of water. But I have to say when I went to Utah a few years ago and visited a couple of different parks, Bryce and Zion, I was as entranced with the amazing scenery as you were. It is much the same — simply majestic. I’m not sure I ever felt so “small.” Your photos are terrific, really capturing the beauty of this place.
