words from this special song along with a digital image of one of my photographs of bare winter trees layered with a photo of some of my artwork were the inspiration for these journal pages (see the lady above) …
lots of layers of gesso and paint applied with a plastic palette knife (the girl below is from a gift catalog)…
this is my first time joining Paint Party Friday and I am also linking to Art Journal Journey’s Winter Wonderland challenge (my other entries at AJJ are #30, 42, 61, 85)…
Beautiful journal work as always Patty, love the cool colours. Thanks again for joining us at Art Journal Journey, hugs, Valerie

And what’s small turn to a friendship, a friendship turn into a bond

I have always been drawn to the stark, melancholy beauty of trees in winter. You have portrayed them with such feeling. Thank you for the link to the song. I had not heard it before, and it really touched my heart, this rainy morning. Sending a big hug.

Happy New Year Patty (although the month is already halfway, time flies!) Looking out of my atelier window on the second floor, I see clear blue skies and a low winter-sun… nothing ‘white and winter’ (but I guess temperatures aren’t as Spring-like when I go outside…) The forecast predicted snow in the Netherlands but the only region that will not see anything of that is Zeeland… my ‘isolated island’ is as pigheaded as I am! (Is that the right word? “Übermütig” maybe, although that doesn’t sound right too… in Dutch I mean “Eigenwijs”….) What I wanted to say: I love seeing your winter-page… it’s serene and beautiful!

(Thanks for visiting my blog. Unfortunately I pressed the wrong button deleting your comment… it was very early in the morning and still dark…well that’s my excuse ;D)
