here in the Washington, DC area we are still digging out from the recent blizzard which left generous amounts of snow everywhere in its path…
~ I ♥ Snow ~
after the storm the brilliant blue skies along with that blanket of white inspired a winter page using some of my favorite colors…
I blended oil pastels with white gesso and did a bit of stenciling with some heavy white gesso too…
the final step was brushing on some Mica highlights which was tricky to capture in my photographs…
joining in again for the theme of Winter Wonderland over at Art Journal Journey…
“Winter came down to our home one night
Quietly pirouetting in on silvery-toed slippers of snow,
And we, we were children once again.”

I really like all the details in your page! The texture and layers are just gorgeous. I always learn so much from seeing your beautiful art.
Can you believe we can already see patches of grass? That is how much it has warmed up. Very cold last night, but up in the 40s again today!

I am truly impressed with this beauty, and of course, I love the photos of your house. I was surprised you didn’t have roof damage, because I was reading how little snow it takes to weigh a roof down. You must have excellent insulation, because I noticed the roof on the house across the street was already visible.
Back to your art, this is a genuine masterpiece, and I love the blues and lavenders you used on this page. It certainly conjured up a sense of cold and snow.

Wonderful frosty page in this nice ice blue colors. The snow on your roof looks dangerous high. Some years ago we had so much snow in a week that some roofs had been broken. Snow is very heavy.

You captured the essence of winter so perfectly and beautifully. The blue definitely conjures up the blue of a winter sky and the blanket of peaceful snow.
The stencilling is gorgeous.
Patty, I am catching up on comments. Were you not able to see my blushes from across the ocean LOL.
