a little over an hour’s drive away in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley there is a lovely French Country Inn…
with beautiful historic buildings and grounds…
their logo: “Escape to Provence. No passport required.” sounded just right to us as we were celebrating Mr Magpie’s birthday…
it was a perfect place to unplug and unwind and feast…
their elegant and delicious La Table Provencale Restaurant and Bar were full of taste tempting delights (the expert friendly staff added to our visit)…
this was a bit of a practice run for the two week tour of France we have planned to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary this April…

So glad you and Mr. Magpie got to take this preview tour of France before the real deal in April. It was also a wonderful way to celebrate his birthday, too.
One of the things that struck me was the table with the ducks in your room. Reminds me of the birds holding the table where you stay in the summer. Of course, I like the idea of hot chocolate in the afternoon. What a great complimentary gift. Looks like you got to feast, too!
Thanks for taking us with you to celebrate Mr. M.’s birthday and your lovely photos of the trip, as well as all the lovely drinks and eats you participated in for T this Tuesday.
And thanks for reminding me how long it took for that postcard to get to me. I had NO idea it took so long, but I’m glad I got it in time to share for T this week. Yes, it seems it could have traveled around the world in the length of time it took to get to me. But got here it finally did! and for that, I am grateful, too.
