Peter Rabbit …

Magpie's Nest Patty Szymkowicz Peter Rabbit teamy sweet mother made this little two and a half inch Peter Rabbit many years ago (back in March of 2002)… she was inspired after visiting a tribute to Beatrix Potter at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. and standing next to a five foot tall Peter Rabbit statue in the exhibit…

Magpie's Nest peter rabbit she could not wait to get home and make a miniature version… the green moss she had glued on the end of his handmade carrot has worn away with time…

Magpie's Nest Patty Szymkowicz tea timeI am raising my tiny cabbage style tea cup to wish you a Happy T Day along with everyone over at Elizabeth’s Altered Book Lover…

  8. Peter is adorable and standing him next to the cabbage tea pot and cup is perfect. Looks like he might be about to go into someone’s garden. I can’t remember – was it Mr. McGregor’s garden? Haven’t read those books since my girls were little

  17. The little Peter is so precious and so nice to keep. My Mother made some little white felt mice with red ears and tail over 50 years ago and I always put them in the tree every year until the last few. I gave them to my daughter and now she continues with the tradition.

Have a great Easter and enjoy Spring.

  20. Oh what a lovely easter decoration and the little rabbit is so well done and a dear memory of your beloved mother. Have you ever seen the nice movie with Reneé Zellweger “Miss Potter”, it shows the life of Beatrice Potter. I love this movie and the nice drawings from Beatrice too. I like your sweet cabbage jug and cup on the photo, just right for a rabbit. And the flowers in the two hands are so nice, a dream scene my Dear.

  24. The miniature Peter Rabbit with the cabbage teacups is wonderful Your mother must have had an interesting artistic mind to see a 5 foot statue and then go home to make a two and a half inch version, a lady after my own heart.
Your theatrical set-ups and your fine photography is always sublime, this is so striking with the flowers, the stained glass and the china.

  29. I am not one bit surprised that your mother is so talented. I love Beatrix Potter. No one else like her. Part of your art talent is the vignettes you create. You know I love living in a fantasy world and you suck me right in. A tea cup garden full of delight.
It’s almost the final countdown (love that song) thinking of you and I am pink with envy. Pink because I am so happy for you!!

I wish everything in this world of ours contained as much sweetness as this post.
Your mother surely had exquisite skill and artistry to create this wee Peter Rabbit. I have always been drawn to soft toys, much more than dolls, so you can imagine how my heart is pitter pattering at the sight of this adorableness! The cute factor is enhanced with the addition of your sweet cabbage teacup!
Wouldn’t we all wish we could live in this world.
