inspired by the wonderful French gentleman from a postcard I bought for myself I created a spread in my France journal for the Journeys theme over at Art Journal Journey this month…
part of our journey to France was about food (of course)…
the “floating island dessert” that we had in Lyon was a ball of meringue floating on a light vanilla custard within a caramelized sugar cage … it sounded innocent enough when we ordered them…
but when the members of our coach tour group saw the size of them we could not believe our eyes (it was delicious and would have easily served four)…
enough about food for now… here is the page I started telling you about in the beginning… “pain quotidien” means “daily bread” I believe (credit for the postcard of the French gentleman appears when you click on the photo above in the picture description)…
we took SO many photos of the gorgeous French countryside…
the golden canola (rape seed) fields were dazzling with the blue skies…
the right hand page of my spread is about “the countryside/la campagne” with a few of our photos printed out smallish to fit the page…
my head is still whirling from our travels and photos and life in general…

Oh Patty, your pages are making my heart sing! I remember the beautiful yellow rape seed and of course the fabulous bread! And floating islands? Ina was making those and I thought someday I must try! Keep showing all these wonderful French things! They’re making me happy!

Oh Patty, these pages for AJJ are scrumptious. Both are truly divine. That little man and his bread was wonderful, and I’m sure you are glad you bought that postcard.
Gosh, I’m so hungry. I had a small piece of cheese earlier, but haven’t eaten anything else today. Now I’m thinking about something sweet and something cheesy. What awesome photos and that dessert is incredible. Of course, all your photos are superb. I can see why your head is still whirling. You are reliving those awesome once-in-a-lifetime moments. I really love seeing your trip photos. And that man with the bread from the postcard- he is fantastic. What a great addition to your journal page- it gives it so much character. What a flood of marvellous photos dear friend, they all invite us to make a journey himself. The yummy food photos makes me hungry. 😉 Jim’s new hat looks very good to him. The photo of the old man with the breads are so cute and looks very good in your art journal pages, great pages as ever.

I feel terrible for not keeping up with you and your travels.
So happy to visit this evening and honestly, I feel as though I have actually been whisked away to the French countryside with the manner in which you so beautifully captured the colours and essence of the countryside.
Such a wonderful postcard, that man has a face brimming over with character.
I had to smile at your tale of the Floating Island – oh my word, that is huge, possibly very light but still, that is a monster of a dessert!

I love how you have captured the story in this page, I can just imagine the french gentlemen buying his daily bread from a boulangerie in one of the quaint villages dotted in the french countryside. It makes me smile :-).

Bread made in France is so delicious! – I have never found its equal in the US! Love your expression with the amazing floating dessert. I wish I had the talent to recreate your beautiful photos with paint.

I am a little late – I had surgery Wednesday and that took away some of my time and now when I take a pain pill I fall asleep!!!!
