“radiant with hope”

to celebrate Elizabeth’s 3rd T Stands for Tuesday anniversary last month some of us participated in an ATC swap and I was the lucky recipient of Linda’s  precious ATC (her gelli print envelope is beautiful too!)…

Good for him. He will remember this all his life. The other young man said he had things packed and his Mother sent them to him along the way – including new hiking boots. I must find out this winter if he finished the other trail.

  10. He may still have some miles to go but he’s doing great isn’t he?!!! What an achievement thats going to be! I suppose sooner or later he was going to enjoy the camping more than the hiking huh? lol All that walking is tiring! Did he do this alone… that might make it harder too… noone to help push you along… lol Has he seen any bears??? EEEeek!! Lovely tea photos this T Tuesday Patty…Hugs! deb

  11. Great news about the boy…glad his journey is going so well. Anthropology windows are always amazing and made from mostly freebees. Heard a talk once from one of their window design guru teams and they get almost no budget and have to “find” and create a concept. Cheap company, spectacular artists and designers. xox

  12. I think window shopping is a lost art, but we’ll do our best to save it for future generations, shall we? 🙂 I’d love hiking _part_ of the Appalachian Trail, as I love hiking and that scenery is stunning. I’d never make near all of it, though. I’ll have to be content with my tiny hikes 😉 But I’m enjoying the virtual hike you’re posting. Thx! Happy T Tuesday

  13. Patty, my dear, –Colin is ,in my eyes, amazing,– hiking such a very big amount of kilometers / miles, sounds just impossible for me, 🙂 what a determination, and physical power, needed to do this . And what a victory ,when he is back home . I admire him very much. The photos are so beautiful, and to think he can live from day to day, only with what his little bag on his back, can hold, is more than I can imagine for myself, lol. Does he cook himself?
Your gift is beautiful and , such lovely ATC and the envelope ,stunning !
And such wonderful teacups, from Anthropology .
Have a wonderful evening ,dear friend.

  14. It is always a delight to read your blogs because you have an eye for beauty.
Isn’t Linda’s ATC beautiful! I received one too (plus beautiful envelope) and a bistro serviette.
The anthropologie window display is eye candy. Love those cups! The kettle looks very Italian indeed. Beauty!
I admire Colin and enjoyed looking at the photos of the trail (I have walked it virtually on walk4fun). I bet you are very proud of him. When finished it will be quite an achievement which will stand him in good stead.
The anthroearthday poster/quote is beautiful. Is it a poster? Or a sculpture?
I was surprised at the quote, after reading Elizabeth’s blog. She writes that wind turbines are not used on a large scale where she lives. Here in Spain they are everywhere. Whole forests of them. After the initial investment, it is free energy. The wind blows most days. On days when it doesn’t blow there are also solar panels. Near us there are two large wind turbine forests and one solar panel ‘sea’ of one square kilometre of solar panels. All the power goes into the national grid of course. I still think our electricity bills are too high, but hey…
    Happy Tuesday,

  18. Wow, your son has made some miles. He’s up more or less in my neck of the woods. They say Maine is the hardest part of the hike, but I bet by now he is so seasoned he will move right on through. And I love all your T inspired photos today. They have me thinking my owls tea cups are getting rather boring. (Not really, but that tea cup photo is really inspiring.). Hope all is well. And happy T day. Hugs-Erika

  22. I sincerely apologize for not visiting sooner. My internet/phone problem took the wrong time to go offline again. Even the serviceman is confused. Before he could leave, thinking all was well, it went out again. Right now I’m at Sally’s and this has to be quite quick.

What a lovely ATC from Linda. Simply beautiful.

We must think alike because I was just wondering about Colin and here is a wonderful update.

I really loved the mugs and tea pot, but the poster from Antropologie was simply super.

Thanks for sharing (and Colin’s update) with us for T on Tuesday.

  23. Way to go Colin! I was wondering if it has been warmer than usual on the AT…it certainly has been on the flatland, even my cousin in New Hampshire has commented on it. I often wish I could have a big pantry where I could store and rotate dishes/cups – there are so many beautiful ones available. Instead, I have one or two favorites and use them all the time. 🙂

  25. ATC’s are such fun – I know they aren’t as popular as they were, but I still think they are amazing little pieces of art. Two pairs of shoes – doesn’t surprise me at all. Forgot to ask you – does he plan to do the entire trail this year?
