before making another run to the local charity shop I snapped a photo for posterity…
a couple of years after the birth of our middle son I took a basket weaving class and caught the weaving bug which lasted a fair number of years…
I sold lots of handwoven Appalachian style baskets (along with dried flowers) at a wonderful fall festival each October taking more classes and broadening my repertoire over the years…
that was then and as we all know things change…

What fabulous baskets! I’ve never pursued basket making, but I now have a friend who teaches it and have made my first small basket with her. And, on Sunday, we went to a random weave basket workshop – so much fun and much more my kind of basket making – using fabric, ribbons and paper.

You are going to make some charity shop and their customers very happy. There is a shop near us that teaches basket weaving as well as caning for chairs, etc. When I walk by I often think I should take a class. So many creative things to try – so little time.

I made a basket at a camp when I was young, and it gave me a real appreciation for handwoven baskets I saw in craft shows as an adult. Yours are beautiful! Happy T Tuesday 🙂

Oh my, your baskets are definitely “Works of the heart”, they are so beautiful and look like they are made with love! They will adorn someones home and make it a very happy place :-).The friend saying is perfect and your home looks so inviting, I’m in love with your lavender chair with it’s pink and grey spindles, those gorgeous flowers and jug, the pretty quilted placements and of course your sunshine mug – wonderful! Patty, you have so many talents, dear-your baskets are SOOO beautiful, and so wonderfully done. You must have sold a lot of them, I love baskets, and still have some around me, here. NOT that I tried creating them, myself. I really admire your talent in also doing this, and they are lovely with all the dried flowers, around and inside them. Such wonderful photo of you and Colin, from back then.
The almost flat one with your dried bouquet is so lovely, and I love the sweet embroidered piece hanging from it, too.

Happy belated T day. I have to laugh, I had that same basket bug back in the day. I also took man classes and your basket collection looks a lot like mine. It was a great thing to do, but I found after awhile I couldn’t get basket making materials very easily. Now with the internet it would be different I guess, but baskets aren’t as popular as they used to be. 🙂 Hugs-Erika

OH MY!!!!! I am crying over here over those baskets! I have made a few rustic ones over the years just by following instructions in a craft magazine. I always wanted to learn more but never got around to it. Setting up at festivals and craft fairs is a lot of work but I enjoyed it in my younger years…can’t say that I would now 🙂

Yes, you either like baskets or you don’t, maybe we did and maybe we don’t now.
I totally love the last photo with the flowers, the mat, the chair and the wise mug, and the colours go together and look so good. I also like the raggedy edges of the photo. And what a view. Is that your garden I wonder. I’m imagining sitting at the table with you with a nice cup of tea and a delicious piece of cake.

oh what gorgeous baskets!!! I certainly can see why they sold so well. Do you still remember how to do the weaving? I’ve gone through different phases of craft work too. Love the quote on the hand towel as well as the Libra quote at the end.

Those are amazing! I am very keen to learn how to weave baskets as I love them filled with plants. For the moment I am the person who buys discarded baskets from thrift shops!!
