the free image of the rose lady had been patiently waiting in one of my art journals which is a thin book with glued together pages that I started back in January (still plenty of room in this altered book)…
after seeing this October poem in one of my copies of Simple Abundance I knew where my pages would be headed next (the book is inspiring on many levels with lots of quotes and uplifting reading… it is also my favorite go to book when I am doing found poetry which is different than just using verse like I have done here)…
we had some record breaking hot temperatures for a few days and now our Indian Summer has gone and left us with crazy wild winds and much cooler temps so the poem fit that nicely too…
pieces of two different napkins along with some smeared gesso using a plastic pallet knife finished two more pages for Valerie’s Art Journal Journey Indian Summer – Golden October – Autumn challenge…

I love that you said “ONE of my copies of Simple Abundance.” I have more than one, too and I love that book dearly. In many ways it altered my life in a very good way.

Jaw dropping gorgeous, Patty. Those napkins are fantastic and the poem is beautiful.
I went through both my tissue and napkins the other day looking for something to inspire me, but found nothing that was even close to autumn inspiring. You have found some lovely pieces and put them to extremely beautiful use.
BTW, the story you shared on my blog was funny and never TMI!

I love the colors you used – orange, brown and blue – and the great textures. The poem and the face are fabulous! In future I also want to try to use a book by glueing the pages.

Here it is also colder now, but with a little sunshine today, which at once makes it all look more friendly ! You have such a collection of wonderful pictures which you make into these marvellous collages. The lady looks as if she comes from another world, and really does as she comes from another time. I love the way you have surrounded her with the rose coloured leaves, she looks just right there.
I would never have thought of using this book as a source and like Erika it was forgotten on my shelves, but I’ve just retrieved it and it looks as fascinating as ever. I’ve only one copy but of course we can now easily photocopy..
Love both your pages here, so delicate and with a lovely atmosphere of peace.
