when snow falls…

img_0414we had a “conversational” snowfall on Saturday which was just enough to add a sheer white blanket to the garden…img_0413

the birds got extra excited at the suet feeder even over just a few flakes…

I am joining Erika’s “Tell Me A Story” challenge at Art Journal Journeyimg_0417

the story behind my two page spread is simply my Love of snow with the special hush and purity it brings…img_0005

a couple of images torn from The Washington Post along with the words “drift” and “snow” were added to book pages that I had brayered with gesso…  I printed out the rest of the quote using our laser printer… the font that I chose happened to match perfectly… the finishing touch was some splatters of gesso…

  4. Another word for snow can be serene… well, of course, not all the times, specially when it’s a stormy snow, but on the whole, I think the word goes on well. Have a nice end of the week, Patty. Here it’s rainy and grey, not very cheerful. oxo

  7. Your marvellous frosty and snowy pages almost make up for our lack of snow, I can feel the cold coming off the screen.
You have such different birds from us, the one with the red stripe and the black and white striped chest looks so beautifully neat.

  9. Oh how nice, snowfall in Virginia. We should get snow tomorrow evening and the next days and then it should become frosty says our weatherman.
Your fairy garden looks so sweet dear friend. It is a wish of mine to create such a small garden for me in spring. I love those things.
Your snowy journal pages look wonderful, now in black and white and not colored than usual.

  15. Love your tree with the blue bottles and it looks like it lights up – how lovely :-). I love snow too, it is so pretty as it floats and dances like frozen stars twinkling from the skies and it has turned your garden into a wonderful frozen wonderland. We have snow forecast for tomorrow :-). The birds are stunning, so many different types I don’t know, is that a wren I see and the Red Cardinals are beautiful :-). Your pages have captured the purity and serenity of the snow and the sentiment is so pretty! Happy Wednesday dear Patty, enjoy the rest of the week! J 🙂

  16. really beautiful peaceful journal spread. We received the same amount of snow (yes! I can handle that ;). But I certainly am not able to capture the magic of it as you do. The photos are so lovely. And SO true about how extra crazy the birds all get with snow…and when it’s really windy too.

  18. This is incredible. I love this story, told in journal form. I was super happy to see that you weren’t buried under many feet of snow like last year.

I noticed, as the wind started picking up this afternoon how the birds came by to see what was in the feeders I have in the yard. So, I can relate to your bird photos, too.

  23. Regarding my last post and your great comment: Thanks for the refresher to my memory about Citrasol. I’d totally forgotten abut this when I made this page. I think I should tear out a few more pages-discretely of course, and give it a whorl once the weather improves also. 🙂

  25. Fantastic pages Patty – The silence that comes when snow is falling is one of my most favorite things! And I do miss all the different birds we had in North Carolina. That little woodpecker is so cute. By the way – is that your bottle tree. And is that a bird bath – I want to do one of those. I do love your style!!!
