in browsing the website of the Fife and Drum Inn that we selected for our 5 day stay in Colonial Williamsburg recently…
I interpreted the photo above (courtesy of the Fife and Drum) to mean that there would be a Little Free Library so I packed up a stack of books to deposit when we got there…
turns out it had nothing to do with books at all and each of the rooms in the inn had one = a little house to hide the television from constant view…
we got some chuckles out of that and then did a search and found a “real” Little Free Library a couple of miles away in front of an interesting looking shop…
we never made it back that way during business hours to go inside but we did leave our books (Mr Magpie always laughs at me because I can’t help but tidy up the book boxes a bit)…
being within walking distance of Colonial Williamsburg gave us several opportunities to stroll around looking for signs of spring…
we were drawn again and again to the 18th century vegetable gardens where the gardening methods, tools and gardeners were all colonial style…
it was a favorite spot back when we visited in December of 2015 (2015 photo above)…
after one of our walks we shared a rich hot chocolate and Linzer bar just a couple of doors down from where we were staying snapping two more traveling tea cup shots…

First, before I forget, I like the traveling tea cup better than the $16.00 mug!
Second, your trip to the Little Free Library was very inspiring. It was so much better than the “library” in your room. I’m still laughing at that one. The metal sculptures near the LFL were impressive and I was so glad you shared them.
Did you get to play chess? That looks like a fantastic board. Of course, the beauty of the gardens at Williamsburg are always stunning. Springtime is the best time to visit there, I believe.
You find the best places for the Traveling Tea Cup. I always enjoy where you find places to photograph it,

It all looks wonderful and I just love the idea of Little Free Library and you taking the books for it. We take books to Tesco and they sell for £1 and that goes to charity

I do like the way they hid the TV’s Makes everything fit more with the era they are recreating. Love all of the photos of your trip. I’ve never been there so it was nice to see the photos.

I loved seeing all the photos of that area you visited. the gardens were lovely with their spring greenery. I think it;s an area that would very much appeal to me as well.
I had a smile at the TV houses, what a good idea as TV sets often seem to take over the whole room, I am glad you found a home for your books.

That looks like an interesting area. Is it an open air museum?
You can be forgiven for thinking it was a little free library. I would have thought the same. Did you mention it to the management? It might be a good idea anyway to have one at the inn.
The quirky art shop looks like something I would like to visit. Shame it was closed when you were there.

Looks like another wonderful time away. I’ve always heard such good things about Williamsburg. The photo collages are just lovely. The little free library box at the inn gave me a chuckle. I giggled about the “free library” at the inn, but then also felt a bit sad, about there being a tv in there “( Oh well, these times, they are a changing,I mean have changed!

Those glass cloches in the garden are so cool! I would love to have just one, let alone all they have!

The Fife and Drum caught my eye on your first post 😉 . It looks such a lovely place to stay and so cosy – a home from home! That’s so funny about the Little Library mix up and I’m glad you found one and got to tidy the books too … lol! The Quirky Art Shop looks amazing, I think you may need to go back and stay for another few days so you can take a look inside 🙂 . Colonial Williamsburg looks like a great place to visit too and I enjoyed strolling round the gardens with you, it’s a bit of heaven where you are able to step back in time! What a wonderful place to visit and so glad you found a real Little Free Library! They are such a good idea – we sometimes see used book stalls in supermarkets or cafes but there is usually a charge for books – which I guess goes to charity! There seems such a lot to see in Williamsburg! Happy T Day! Chrisx

I don’t know of any Little Libraries in our area – unfortunately. We do have a lending library in our laundry room in the building that I help supply with books every time I can. Enjoyed your photo tour.
