Travel …

another two page spread inspired by Yvonne’s OUT AND ABOUT theme for Art Journal Journey this month…

just in time as March 2017 is just about history … whoooosh … traveling has always been one of my favorite things…

here is a photo of rubber stamps I stamped onto white tissue paper to add to my pages (if you’re interested in the name of a particular stamp please ask…I am always happy to share details)…

a few rubons and some pencil scribbles and I thought I was finished but when looking at my photo on the computer screen I felt it needed something above the newspaper word TRAVEL so I added a postage stamp…

I intentionally left other spaces on my pages representing openings for adventures to come…

“Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.” – Miriam Beard

  11. Such stunning pages as always dear Patty! The colours and images are the perfect combination! To me your stamp collection is something of beauty and I love the way the white tissue paper has melted into the page 🙂 . When I saw the second photo of your page I thought you had added crackle glaze to your background, only to find that the lovely texture was achieved with pencil scribbles – amazing! The plane travelling around the world is wonderful and the postage stamp is such a lovely addition 🙂 . You have captured your love of travelling beautifully! Enjoy the rest of your week and wishing you a Happy Weekend! J 🙂

  15. Patty, this is the difference between you and a lot of other artists. I see all the supplies and stamps you used — and it could be a bloody mess with all that — too cluttered. And yet you, integrating these (or some) as almost an underlayer with the gesso over, the flow of the page, the overlap, the composition — it just works! (And I love the blue, of course!)

  16. What a fabulous page Patty with your lovely collection of travel and ephemera stamps… but the background is my favourite – it looks so wonderfully textured and looks like it could be clouds and water the plane is flying over.
Wishing you a lovely weekend…. Gill xx ( and thank you, I really appreciated your kind comments on my post yesterday x)

  19. Very nice all these stamps and the circle with the aeroplane as an eyecatcher. You put them all together in harmony and the nice ornamentic paper at the edges look very good to it. The soft textured background is also perfect to it.
    Happy Weekend!

  21. That’s a great collage/stamp page. I also love to see your supplies – your stamps here. The postage stamp sits very happily above the word “Travel” and I like the patterned side borders too and the pencil scribbles, that is so effective.
