Elbows Down…Pinkies Up Tea

now for a little something different with greetings from our California travels…

still in Halloween mode…

welcome to the tea party (nothing political whatsoever!)…

please excuse any ads before the actual video…

here is the THE link just in case my embedded video link did not work…

I submitted this music for the Tea and Sympathy’s call for music to drink tea by …

hope you are having a Happy T Tuesday pinkies up or not…

I look forward to checking in with you all upon my return

Jasmine Tea

there were some unexpected guests today for tea

… the first visitor was a fuzzy bumblebee

I have a confession to make … I found the bee laying on the path in the garden … he was a goner … I put him in a safe place … not sure why … but then I had the idea to pose him on our blooming Jasmine … you know … giving him one last photo op

when what to my surprise just off to the left …

observing me was a young praying mantis … not as willing a photo subject as the bee … hopping here and there

… wish you could smell these Arabian Jasmine blossoms

I did manage to click off a few photos before she fled the scene … some days you just don’t know who will drop by for tea … so glad you did …

the pink papers are pieces of cardstock I painted with beet juice

if you would like to check in on the other T Tuesday posters … be sure to visit Kimmie’s Art in Red Wagons sidebar here

what a lovely honor … blogging truly is a bridge that spans all across the globe!

breakfast and a movie

just can’t do a blog post without a photo 😉

finally Alice in Wonderland time is here

we almost went to the 12:01 showing last night/this morning … but decided we could wait until 11:30 this morning

not usually one to need to rush out and see movies so soon after they are released … but … I could hardly wait to go down the rabbit hole and it did not disappoint

Tim Burton … Johnny Depp = Brilliant!!!  all of the actors were so well cast !

this is one I would like to see again on the big screen … there is so much to enjoy and take in!

“There is a place. Like no place on Earth. A land full of wonder, mystery, and danger! Some say to survive it: You need to be as mad as a hatter.” ~The Mad Hatter, Alice in Wonderland 2010

Go Ask Alice

Hermine’s theme for Wednesday Stamper this week is

“Alice in Wonderland”

I created a postcard on water color paper … adhering  junk paper for the background along with a piece of the inside of a security envelope … tucking Alice into a photograph of our forget me not teacup

*click if you would like to see details *

I hand colored the black and white image of Alice, using paints, the image is from this great website

here are the stamps I used for my postcard

I can hardly wait to see the Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland moviedue to be released in the US on 5 March … we saw 3D previews and it looks fantastic!

*Note: the ‘handwriting’ is a Lewis Carroll font that I picked up at the same website as the Alice image, see above for link*

all in the golden afternoon

As a girl this song from Alice in Wonderland floated thru my head often, it actually still does….you can learn a lot of things from the flowers lalala la la la la la laaaaa.  Although in listening to the real version (not the one in head)….I thought it was in the merry month of MAY.    You have to Love YouTube…..typing in a line or a few words from a song and viola…..take your pick of videos on that topic!  Here is a whimsical and sweet selection:

With the “Flowers” challenge at Theme Thursday and the song in my head, I created a postcard using tissue paper from a trip to San Franciso’s Chinatown, the back of the green fern paper I used in my recent post for the leaves and stem, and a flower with a smooshed metal bottle cap for the flower center AND a piece of rickrack shared by an art friend Linda S.

Flowers are definitely a favorite topic of mine.  One other amazing song comes to mind (thank you sweetie), “Come Back As A Flower” by Stevie Wonder from his “The Secret Life of Plants” album.
