another two page spread inspired by Yvonne’s OUT AND ABOUT theme for Art Journal Journey this month…

just in time as March 2017 is just about history … whoooosh … traveling has always been one of my favorite things…

 

here is a photo of rubber stamps I stamped onto white tissue paper to add to my pages (if you’re interested in the name of a particular stamp please ask…I am always happy to share details)…

a few rubons and some pencil scribbles and I thought I was finished but when looking at my photo on the computer screen I felt it needed something above the newspaper word TRAVEL so I added a postage stamp…

I intentionally left other spaces on my pages representing openings for adventures to come…

darkness to Light…

I have missed art journaling and playing along with my favorite challenge blog friends over at Art Journal Journey…

Valerie’s brilliant theme this month is “Light and Darkness” which is something I think about quite a bit having experienced a fair bit of darkness in my life (mostly in the form of loss)…

we all have to face it at some point (I used a fine tip black Sharpie marker for highlights around the gold)…

I have also been blessed with so much beautiful Light (couldn’t help but notice the difference in the Light in my photos)…

this journal page began with what was left from a sheet of Christmas stamps (those little snippets always seem too nice to throw away)…

Principauté de Monaco

 the Principality of Monaco is the world’s second smallest country (the Vatican is smaller) located on the French Riviera…

known for its glitz and glam and hedonistic life style…

we enjoyed the beautiful views which included a visit to the cathedral where Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace are buried…

preparations were being made for this year’s Grand Prix and our bus rode on part of the race route which would be closed later on in May for the famous Formula 1 race…working in no particular order in my French Travel Journal Monaco ended up as the last page even though we visited on the second day of our tour… joining Art Journal Journey for their MAPS challenge here

Saint-Jean de Luz

maps have always been a favorite thing of mine so imagine my delight with the new MAPS challenge at Art Journal Journey this month…

it will be the perfect opportunity to create more pages in my French Travel Journal…

on our Best of France tour we got to spend a few hours in the Basque fishing village of Saint-Jean de Luz…

the red and white buildings were all very neat and charming looking…

it must be a bustling place during the summer months…

a map page torn from my 1974 Michelin guide to France was a nice beginning for this spread along with a couple of our photos…

like a dream…

still inspired by Erika’s JOURNEYS theme at Art Journal Journey I created a spread in a “dream” art journal that I started in January 2015…a trip to my favorite papercraft store in nearby Clifton got me playing with a new butterfly stamp and some silver gilding flakes (Elizabeth that is the La Blanche stamp I mentioned to you)…

hard to capture the beautiful shimmer of the silver on camera (it does show up a bit better if you click on the photo)…

because I was using what I had handy this spread could have easily gone into my French Travel Journal but my Dream journal was feeling neglected so there it is…

I may go back and change the words I added on the top of the left page to “HER journey was like a dream” ♥

Return to Sender…

this is a piece I created using a photo from a farmer’s market flower bouquet along with a photo from part of my recent art journal pages…

I layered the photos using the Diana iphone app adding  the hand “sticker” and words along with a few other layers with the PixlrExpress iphone app and printed out a copy with our laser printer (approximately 6×6 inches)…

a look through some of my postage stamps brought me to a British couple rowing their boat in a lily pond…

and finally a bit of rubber stamping with B Line Designs, LLC Paris Cancellation  and Hero Arts Luxe Cancellation stamps…

I am joining in again with Art Journal Journey’s Post & Postage challenge (my other entries so far are #89, 103 and 114)…
