Sew Delighted…

today’s mail took me completely by surprise…

what to my delight to find my “Mother Nature” creation on page 141 in the Gallery Section of the Winter 2013 issue of SEW Somerset…

here is the paragraph I submitted with the piece back in January 2011 (see why I forgot about it)…

Mother Nature

5 x 7.5”

Layer various cotton fabrics, netting and old lace along with silk and rayon ribbons and stitch them onto watercolor paper.  I also use glue stick now and then to adhere bits of fabric.  The image from Paper Artsy (http://www.paperartsy.co.uk/) is stamped onto paper with black permanent ink and stitched onto the layered fabrics.  Embellish with green leaf ribbon…my blossoms are from a vintage hat (they are fabulous to pick apart and use as accents)…the gorgeous stitched on vintage button was a gift from a friend (thank you Caterina).

I can see why they edited it, my tenses were all over the place LOL…

this piece was mailed in at the same time as my “Cherry Pie” fabric postcard that was published in the Winter 2012 issue of SEW Somerset here

I had every intention of buying the 2013 Winter issue because the talented Catarina of La Dolce Vita has a lovely article that I wanted to see up close and personal…

another talented and sweet friend Jean of Bluebirds Living in the Meadow is a cover girl and has a couple page spread in the upcoming issue of a very special issue of Somerset Studio’s Artists’ Cafe

~**Thank You very very much Stampington & Company**~

~* just had to share the happy news *~

***AND another lovely and talented blog friend Nancy Maxwell of Sugar Lump Studios is published in the same SEW Somerset issue…

thanks to my sweet friend Linda in Texas for some really special surprises……

AND to Stampington and Company for publishing one of my fabric pieces in the Gallery section of their Winter 2012 issue of SEW Somerset…

as I pulled the plastic wrap off the magazine I wondered what  it might be…

then I saw this…

WHAT…

oh my gosh how exciting…

but I had absolutely no clue what it might be…

often I will look at magazines beginning at the back…

not this time…

I started carefully at the front…

at one point thinking ‘oh my this must be a mistake’

finally on the very last page of the GALLERY section…

page 139…

there she was…

my “Cherry Pie”  sweet Paper Whimsy girl fabric and paper creation (the PW credit along with a couple of other sentences were edited out of my description)…

we were headed over to Maryland to spend a Hobby Lobby gift card that I won…my first time ever setting foot in a Hobby Lobby…

next stop since we were in the neighborhood was to visit Patti Euler’s amazing store in Savage Mill, Maryland…

The Queen’s Ink AND she just happened to have some hot off the press SEW Somerset’s on her extensive magazine rack…

more on the amazing new toy I bought there in another post…

everything has a story…doesn’t it 🙂

after a little checking when we got back home I found that I had sent this piece to Somerset back in January of this year…

I would like to share a quote from my new wall calendar…“The Art of Sulamith Wulfing”  Angel Spirits

I chose the calendar for the illustrations and was delighted by the words on each month as well…

“Spirit of Faith

I am the light of faith that glows softly within you, warming, illuminating, encouraging.  With my help, what you truly believe will become your reality.  The new year has begun, the time of beginnings and optimistic intentions.  Open to possibility and be ready to receive a miracle.”

~*Happy Birthday to our Ian*~

a wonderful day

everyone deserves a wonderful day…

more than every now and then…

a big thank you to Shane of Roses, Lace and Brocante in New Zealand for telling me that my fabric postcard is in the Winter issue of Stampington & Company’s Sew Somerset magazine…

it’s a pretty cover …

she got the magazine in New Zealand long before I found a copy of it here in the states…

it was a bit of a wild goose chase trying to find a copy of the magazine before we went away for my birthday weekend…

the last thing we did on our way back home was to stop at a local bookstore…still no Sew Somerset on the rack…I spotted a clerk and asked about it… he said some magazines had come in that he had not gotten to…he disappeared into the storeroom and appeared later with copies…Yippee…

I was very excited to see my postcard…larger than life in The Gallery section on page 130…thanks again dear Shane…

thanks also to Alicia at Altered Bits for the lovely lady from one of her collage sheets

the very talented Theresa mARTin has a gorgeous article on her “Fisherman’s Daughter” creation…pages 16-20…I am always inspired by her creativity and kindness…and she is a magpie as well…just found out Theresa also has TWO articles in Vol 3 of  Somerset Apprentice Magazine !

as always I need to thank the sweet and talented Estivalia in Chile for making my link on the sidebar happen…Love that pink and blue cover other there!

wishing each of you lots of wonderful days…
