John Mayer back in Virginia * 31 July 2010 *

a beautiful night to be out and about in the Washington DC area … the first of only a couple of days that it was fit to go out even at night … we’ve really been feeling the hazy humid heat of summer here … close by … John Mayer was performing at Jiffy Lube Live … formerly know as the Nissan Pavilion … same great music venue … with an odd new name … in my humble opinion …

warm up band  … The Avett Brothers … from Concord, NC

feeling lucky enough to see John Mayer at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville in March I never imagined I would get to see him again this summer too …  this time sporting a cool and functional head band …

he is not only a very gifted and talented performer … but a most generous artist too …

living to make music …truly enjoying his craft …

he shares that passion by allowing photos and videos during his concerts … for personal use only of course …

in our excitement after the concert … not wanting the night to end … we posted our first AMATEUR YouTube videos here … Mr Magpie’s arms are still recovering from trying to keep the camera suspended in air for five and seven minutes stretches …

John Mayer and his band had the crowd on their feet for more than two hours …oh yah!

rocking the house … all the way up to the lawn seats … what a night and a memorable way to ring out July 2010

  2. Oh how !!fun!! you lucky ducks rocking at the Jiffy Lube…what? What’s wrong with that name, LOL!? Loved the first YouTube of Waiting on the World to Change….will go back and catch the others too! Great job by Mr. Magpie and I listened closely to see if the audio picked up any friendly whispers with specific videoing tips/directions from the Mrs. Magpie and none were noted. ha ha! You’re a better woman than me…or you whisper softer than I do! Great still shots too, Patty! So glad you had such a fun night & the weather cooperated for a change. Xo, Sue

  5. I love this little stinker John Mayer. Your images are wonderful …were you up close to the performance stage? It appears no one has to show you how to have a GREAT evening with the Arts. Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

  7. How cool!!! I would love to see him! I have a double live CD and have seen him “live” on TV a few times. Once was at Eric Clapton’s annual Blues concert (forget the name) and another time was recently on “Cross Roads” with Keith Urban. I would so love to go to a show…

  8. Well aren’t you just the lucky gal. Looks like you had some pretty decent seats, too. Boy can I relate to aching arms trying to hold a camera still for 7 to 8 minutes at a time. Way to go, Mr. M.

  12. It looks like you had a great time! We recently moved from Charlottesville. Hearing that you were there makes me feel a bit connected! I’m guessing the concert was at the JPJ. Thanks for the post, it made me feel like pulling out some John Mayer CD’s.
